I've been moving my collection back to early Conrail in 9/78. I'm coming to grips with my out of date cars with roofwalks, I lack the desire to remove them.
Just curious, was the clinic for modeling that car ever posted?
Adam, No the clinic for that car has not been posted yet. It might be done again at the Savannah RPM in March. I am working on an online passenger car clinic right now for a Southern 11 double bedroom sleeper that Southern rebuilt from their boat tail observation cars. Give me a couple more months and I will post it. Several clinics are posted here: groups.io/g/RPMclinics-JamesWall

I have one PC car that shouldn't have a roofwalk. I just pulled it off and left it in the box for now. Eventually I may fill the holes and weather it to hide them.
Somebody used to make plugs for the Athearn cars that you just put in place of the pins and the top had the right shape to match the roof pattern, some small cottage level guy.

I remember them, I'll have to do some digging in my boxes to see if I have a set somewhere. Those pins would be a great thing for the 3D printers to make.

The roofwalk hole plugs were from CM Shops, which was affiliated with or part of Model Railway Post Office, a major dealer in northern New Jersey. I was a longtime mail order customer of theirs. I believe they've been out of business for some years.
Amen to the wish for 3D printed equivalents of them!

I'll dig out some Athearns and do some measuring. Should be a pretty simple project.
One project I have is making a roofwalk upgrade for the Walthers ribsides using etched parts and printed supports as the stock roofwalk is all one piece. That includes filling the holes in the roof as well.

CM Shops did several different sets of the plugs, matched to the ribs on particular Athearn blue box kits.

CM Shops did several different sets of the plugs, matched to the ribs on particular Athearn blue box kits. Yeah, I did a quick search and found a set on ebay. Being different for each car will be more of a challenge simply because I don't have many of them to work off of.
