I haven't seen Jay Bee wheels since I was in grad school back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, circa 1994. I've never seen any for sale for years but I don't really know.

Um, yeah. JB Wheelsets have been back in business for years. jbwheelsets.comI have been a pretty consistent customer of theirs for resistor wheel sets and coupler pads over the years. My club bought thousands of JB Wheelsets back around 1990 when we converted to all metal wheels for the club-owned cars and many other members joined in because we got a deal. Thirty years later, most of those wheel sets are still in use on our layout today.

I've never seen them in years so am surprised that they are back in business; pleasantly surprised.
I noted from the website they have two different axle lengths which is good since Reboxx appears to be MIA

i really wish someone would make code 88 wheels for locomotives or even better code 77 wheels like the narc wheels. i thought i was going to make my own and purchased a lathe but there is a lot more to it than i thought.

Are these top of the line wheels, or are the Intermountain comparable?

mlwlover, What about the NWSL wheelsets? They offer both Code 88 loco wheels and P:87 loco wheels. nwsl.com/collections/ho-hon3-scalemigalyto, The JB wheels are not "top of the line" for prototype accuracy as they are only available with Code 110 treads, the axles are fat, wheel backs are flat, and the insulator is also rather big. Still, they are probably the heaviest wheelset on the market and I've never had a bad, out-of-gauge (or out of round) wheelset from them. They roll well, so I'd say they are perfect for operating models or club use. If you're buying wheels to put on a model that's going to be judged at a NMRA Convention, these JB wheelsets are not for you.

Maybe my memory is poor but I recall Jay Bee wheel sets in the 90's looking better than those on the website link.

Maybe my memory is poor but I recall Jay Bee wheel sets in the 90's looking better than those on the website link. I ended up with a batch of them back in the '90s, most of which are still in use. They looked pretty much like that.

As mentioned above, the JB's are heavy. Enough so I'm sure they can improve tracking on lightweight cars.
I used them on the first run of Thrall cabooses and was happy with them. The fat axles don't work as well with my trucks however so I've changed suppliers. To be clear, that's due to the unique nature of my trucks, not a problem with the wheelsets.

Who makes code 88 tread wheelsets to fit Kato ASF trucks? The axle length is very short, I think around 0.95". I bought these trucks for the axles to retrofit a pair of Märklin cabooses as it was cheaper than buying NEM RP25 wheelsets separately... Now I'd like to use these trucks with some semi-scale wheelsets, if possible.
