50th Anniversary P42s - I would guess dealt through normal retail channels - the 50th Anniversary Charger from Bachmann is so don't see why the P42 would be any different
AC4400 - at this point many know both sides are coming out with a model, so the respective fans of each company will wait. It would also not surprise me if both sides are ready to announce if the other does, so there wouldn't be any advantage.

I could see a scenario where Athearn beats ST to the AC4400. ST came out of the gate with a bang a few years ago but now it seems like they are mostly content to keep producing models they already make and bring in some more cash. I know they have announced a few things here and there but not nearly at the rate they did earlier.
When they first announced the Dash 9 they promised that Canadian versions were coming 'soon'. Well since that day they have done multiple runs of mostly existing roadnames (perhaps with some slightly different paint schemes) and now here we are in 2021 and Athearn has a Canadian 4-Window 'L Cab' Dash 9 coming out in just a few months and has also beaten them to announcing the Teardrop window versions.
In the end it's their decision, but by choosing to wait before doing additional versions, Scale Trains left the door open for someone else to do them. Athearn took advantage by announcing two whole runs of models which as far as I have been made aware do not duplicate any of ST's versions.
I'm fairly sure that the AC4400 WILL be one of Athearn's big announcements for this year. Perhaps late in the summer or fall. Whether they are first or not is anyone's guess I suppose.

Will also be in the summary, but for those who have the issue they have a solution/process for dealing with missing SD60M bearing caps.
Anyone with the model and missing bearing caps will need to email Athearn at athearnhelp@horizonhobby.com
Subject line should be something like "SD60M Bearing Caps"
In the body of the message include: - item number/description (roadname, etc) - proof of purchase (image of the receipt, etc) - number of bearing caps needed - your mailing address for shipping

Ah, switchers.
These days, to be taken seriously, switchers will have to have DCC/sound. They will have to be heavy (this usually means lots of metal), so they can pull, instead of just move. And they will have to have "keep alive". Oh, I almost forgot: they'll have to have real nice slow speed.
And wire grabs and "fine" detailing and.........
NOT an easy task. But rewarding.

I wasn't able to see the entire release of the TankTrain cars in the video, but I did not notice any mention of the Barber-Scheffell trucks on this run. Maybe next year?

Ed I’m one that thinks we’ll see an upgraded SW1500 soon. Ideally, I hope that a new one flushes out some old RTRs on eBay at a reasonable price. I‘ll want to put in an ESU decoder and a ScaleSounds speaker and it might as well get some KV parts on it too.

I’m one that thinks we’ll see an upgraded SW1500 soon. I think that, too.I'm a bit worried about a continued absence of metal (weight) and "keep alive", though. But. If they do it ALL, I'll likely buy some, and sell you my old ones. If they don't, I'll probably do just what you are proposing. Also, I do hope they fix the SW1000 shell. Ed

Previous comments last year was that they needed to do some upgrades to the switchers prior to them being released again - though what those upgrades are hasn't been specified.

I just picked up a pair of SP SW1500s (rtr) for cheap, but they still need at least DCC, and LEDs. Once that's done I'm sure Athearn will re-release the engines with these features.
I was a little surprised (and disheartened) to learn the Genesis P42s won't have HEP cables on the model. Not something I need or want, but it's kinda lousy that detail is being left off....a passenger engine!

Most only do the MU and trainlines.

I haven't seen that many and when I did the price was getting pretty close to what a non-sound Genesis might cost. I think list was $90-125 on those over the years.

I have noticed that they seen to have vanished and when they show up on the Bay the price is insane.

It would be nice to see the MP15AC in the Genesis 2.0 line with upgraded handrails that are actually straight, and with ditch lights. My MP15 from many years ago hand the worst handrails I have ever seen on ANY diesel.

Gee, I thought I'd done IT again. And been FOUND OUT. Nope, it's ATHG66169. UP 1413. Cute little thang, but the sound decoder is AWFUL. It's gonna get a transplant. I'll probably keep the speaker on the chance that it will sound OK. Somewhere here, I've got an SP one, of the same vintage. A friend gave it to me years ago. It certainly deserves fixin' up, too. Found it. ATHG66167, SP 2746. Ed

Athearn Train Tuesday - April 20th 2021 - generic G&W locos so buyer can add rail line into logo - great suggestion, if people interested email Athearn YouTube linkInteresting idea. It kind of goes against the Genesis model of making unit and era specific units (this doesn’t necessarily mean that the units should or need to be Genesis). I think it speaks to what a majority of the people really care about. If all the fine details are there, being specific to a unit doesn’t really matter that much.

No era was specified in either the question or the answer.
A safe guess is that something Amtrak will be announced (either on April 30th or the following announcement) to take advantage of the Amtrak 50th stuff.
Easy answer would be the P42's with the anniversary paint schemes, but it is also possible that Athearn have been developing something else Amtrak related to take advantage of the anniversary hype around Amtrak.

It may also reflect the reality that Athearn (or anyone else) is unlikely to release models for every G&W shortline, though I do wonder just how much support there is for the idea given previous attempts at un-numbered locos have been a failure.

IM was going do the generic G&W family thing on one of there locos a while ago. Last I heard it was deemed too difficult. One loco had the black stripes in one place and another loco would have them in another. And that would be for the same railroad. Then across different railroads in the family, forget about it.

everyone i found missing bearing cap to my sd60m. while ago i was spending days looking for it, and now i scan near part of my train table and just of luck i found it. so now my sd60m has all bearing cap on locomotive. man they are so so small and carpet i have it string type carpet. i wish that Athearn added extra bearing caps and it sound like there not going to make bearing cap part replacement bag cause the locomotive is limited type or run. unless they use the same type of baring caps for all locomotives that will have rolling bearing caps then they should make bag of replacement.
