Thanks for the tip about the 3 mm chisel. I can't wait for mine to come in the mail. I ordered one yesterday as well. I'm a sucker for good tools.

I ordered a Hasegawa 3mm flat chisel this morning (TT9 is correct riogrande) and a Tamiya 74123 sprue cutter too for good measure. Well, good cutting at least. I uses rulers and calipers to measure things.

The Tt9 appears to be different than the one in valenciajim's link.

The Tt9 appears to be different than the one in valenciajim's link. Yes, that's the Mikisyo chisel that Dave was recommending. The Hasegawa TT9 is the one that Craig recommends. Your choice. Either way make sure that you get a 3mm flat chisel -- not narrower as they are more prone to gouging, and not a V-shaped chisel -- you want one side flat so you can use it either way depending on the situation.

I used both in my door bar removal project. The wide chisel was fine for most of the work but the narrow one fit in between the rivets. It is definitely more prone to gouging because it's easy to twist without feeling that you've twisted it. For the most part the wider chisel will do the work.

I neglected to add yesterday that the TT-5 round is great for tight spaces like knocking off individual rivets or shaving back mold parting lines. With a little practice it's very very useful.

When I purchased mine, Amazon only had 12 left. I'll bet as a result of this thread, they are nearly sold out.

I just received my chisel in the mail from Amazon. I am really impressed. It is quite ergonometric. I tried is out and the 3 mm width seems just right for most jobs. Thanks to everyone for turning me onto this neat little tool!

This is one of the best suggestions I have gotten from this forum. Thanks again!
