I purchased a LokSound LOKProgrammer and am having issues reading decoder information from two of my Scaletrains Museum Gas Turbines. These turbines were from the initial run. I received a message the the installed decoder is not supported. I was under the impression that these were installed with LOKsound decoders? Has anyone else had this issue. I am using the latest version of software and I can read/program other Loksound equipped locomotives without issues.

Try downloading and using the software for the V4 decoders version 4.7.2. I keep this version along with the latest version 5 for situations such as this. I also have the 3.5 version as well, but rarely ever need it any more. You can have multiple instances of the programmer on your computer no problem.
Apparently, if you go to TOOLS and update decoder software, that will solve the problem as well. I've always been hesitant to do that for fear of changing something in the decoder program that I don't want .... especially on a factory install that isn't available to re-load should it mess something up. However, in your case, the Scale Trains A unit and B unit are both available for download, so you might want to try updating the decoder software first.
The problem is, the V5 programmer doesn't reverse understand V4 sound files. You can LOAD a V4 sound file using the V5 software / decoders, but it needs to internally convert them to do so.

The V5 programmer absolutely does understand V4 sound files. Nothing is different as far as how V5 talks to V4/Select decoders. By all means try 4.7.2 to see if it makes a difference, but that would not be why if it does. The "decoder not supported" message comes up whenever there is any communication issue. If you try clicking read decoder with nothing on the programming track, you will still get that message.

I did ok. I have been updating LOKsound firmware and have upgrading sounds on my roster.

What solved your Gas Turbine issue that the "decoder was not supported" ?

Does the LOKProgrammer support programming on the main? I have some specific decoders that need to be programmed that way and I run the CabControl system.
