I love it! They look great. I don't have anything new this week, so here's something old: Factory painted Atlas model with new "used to be L-window" cab and some added details.

Track laying and switch machine installation has been taking a lot of my time lately, but here's an Atlas ACF Cylindrical that I've got a little upgrade project started......Still Lipstick on a Pig. Here it's still wet with it's first oil wash....

I’ve been working on developing some new Laser Cut freight car kits. Gondolas this time. This is a MILW Pullman Standard version. No time frame as yet on a release. I still need to write the instructions. Dave Hussey Cannon and Company pbase.com/dh30973/image/171053083

The D&RGW one is right in the '70s sweet spot! Awesome, please inform us when they're ready to ship.

Good weekend, all. The Algoma Central 61' gondola up front was the first model of mine (of my first post) here on the ARF, and at the time I thought I'd give another one a try. After all, I had a second set of dry transfers sitting around doing nothing. The first one was kitbashed from two Model Die Casting 40' gondolas with a lot of work going into removing and replacing the ribs. The new one is almost all styrene, so far. The second one is a much easier build. I still have work to do on the ends. Both of the cars have nothing installed on the underframe, but that will soon be remedied. I managed to find a photo of one of these cars on its side and it shows all of the brake and underframe detail. That will come in time. Some great models on here today. Keep them coming! And enjoy what's left of the weekend, everyone! Timothy Dineen

I agree and peaks my interest in DRGW gondolas. Do you have any recommendations for books or other media that covers the DRGW gondolas? Thanks! Damn, that's cool Dave, are there other roadnames it's good for?

Jim Eager's Rio Grande Color Guide to Freight and Passenger Equipment, Morning Sun Books. It seems to cover all the classes of freight cars. The orange D&RGW model Dave shows with road number 56156 is covered on page 73 with a photo and the following caption: This photo from fallen-flags is the same as in the Color Guide book: www.rr-fallenflags.org/drgw/drgw56135jpa.jpgAnother apparently same date and location: www.rr-fallenflags.org/drgw/drgw56180jpa.jpgThere are photo's of this class in fallen-flags as late as 2010, some repainted.

Dave,
Those gondolas look very nice, but are the side posts prototype depth? At least on the MILW one, they look shallow.

It looks like they have the correct number of side posts, and I think the spacing is the same. I'm not sure if those details was standardize by PS for this design. These cars went to the following series in the CSX fleet: BO 356500-357599 to BO 706167-707257 to CSXT 706167-707257 CO 356000-356499 to CO 707261-707760 to CSXT 707261-707760 Here are a few of a bunch of examples I've shot: B&O 357050B&O 357059C&O 356347CSXT 706610CSXT 707205Dave, I shot several angles of this car that might be useful for comparing it to you model to see if it's a match. Note that this car has what I believe are rebuilt ends. It looks like about 25% of the CSX cars that I've shot have this style of car ends: CSXT 706659Great stuff this week! Dave

I agree that is a neat photo Martin.
If I saw those same three gondolas hauling logs on someone's layout, I would've thought that was a very unrealistic set of cars to be running together.
The picture taken in Chicago maybe?

What is the boxcar at far left (behind the EL and C&O gons and to the left of the C&EI boxcar)? I can't help but see "Amtrak Phase IV" (obviously it's not) with that blue-ish horizontal stripe on a grimy silver(?) carbody!

Got sick of waiting for Intermountain to release theirs so I had my favorite custom builder John B. build me one from a Kato SD38-2. Here she is SLSF #299. SLSF SD38-2 #299 by Matthew Fisher, on Flickr
