Got my trio yesterday. Pretty nice car. One had a bit of a waffled roof walk. There are two downsides I see. - Its a Mainline quality draft gear on a Tangent quality car. - The end ladders are molded. Its not terrible, but it is noticeable. Lombard only had a few left on the shelves yesterday. Des Plains had a pretty good selection..at MSRP.

Is the draft gear box a separate part? It looks like it is in your second pic. You're right on the end grabs, they do look a bit heavy but would be an easy fix.

The air piping looks chunky, too, around the reservoirs. And the jack pad could use some realigning. And the decking sure does have a whoop-ti-doo, in the second photo.
Still. A pretty nice car, and I'm hoping/expecting to pick up a couple of the "west coast versions".

The ladder really stands out. I'll bet they do a funny video about them!

For others who do want one or more of these models and, like me, hadn't pre-ordered any, Toy Train Heaven (part of Bowser) has individual cars listed at a small discount as part of its mid-week sale posted on line today, Tuesday, October 27. I've ordered one though I doubt they ever ran over the D&H or the B&M, because of strong memories of these cars at an unloading site off the former Boston & Albany main line near the old passenger station (still standing) in Framingham, Mass., when I lived there 1968 -1971 and for years afterwards. The models are a big improvement over the old AHM cars. I combined this with snagging two undecorated Walthers Mainline "Railgon"-type gons as built by Bethlehem Steel that I'll paint black and letter with Highball decals, not being satisfied with lettering on the cars Walthers decorated for the D&H. The $9.99 shipping fee is certainly reasonable.

are the ladders and end grabiron uprights made out of delrin or brittle styrene?

Being interesting to see if the first freight car to come with the Kadee couplers offers an improvement on that.

My cars shipped two-day from New Jersey on the 24th and are still in transit. Not going to make a fuss about the molded on grabs or the large coupler box, but I will add code 88 wheels.
Really glad Rapido produced these cars, they are so distinctive and will look great with weathering.
Thanks, Mark J. Reading, PA

The grabs are not molded on. They appear to be wire.

Yeah, I meant the molded ladder rungs. Still looks good to me.
Thanks, Mark

Best if worried to contact Rapido, but in general be aware (particularly in the Covid era of having to social distance in a small warehouse) that it can take a while to physically pack all the orders and ship them.

For my last order just a few months ago, my card was charged and then weeks later, the package arrived. You'll get no tracking info as it's from Canada. And US to Canada takes a while anyway. I also have fond memories of the Framingham facility. Well, as fond as one can have for a place that blew dust all over the place.
I have added and removed a Penn Central one from my eBay cart a few times, but they want $60 for them plus shipping,.

They strap them to Canada geese as they get ready to fly south for the winter. Just watch out when you get the package, they tend to poop a lot.

It alerts you to items that are being mailed (letters and packages) and you can typically track packages as soon as the tracking number is generated. informeddelivery.usps.com/box/pages/intro/start.action

If they're hatched in Canada, they are Canadian. If they are hatched in the USA, they are American Canadian geese!

And all that chunky stuff? Easy fix's & weathering. What's the easy fix for the ladder? The air lines look a little tricky. Bending the wire shouldn't be a problem (just keep bending wire until you get a sample that fits and is straight), but what are you going to do about the fittings ON the wire? I expect slicing them off and drilling holes in them, and then stringing them on the wire is the answer. Of course, you'll have to drill the holes oversize to get them around the corners. Then they might get glued-on off center. Maybe cut a slot in the back and "clip" them on? How would you cut the slot, though? Or do you have another approach entirely? Ed

I have one coming; when they dropped I had one put on hold pending the Atlas that showed up today. I looked again and only NYC was left. I may put it out at my two fall shows just to justify the order, but I don't expect to sell it there. $60 is a lot in the two small markets I'll be going to. Heck it would be a lot in the bigger market shows, too, but they're all cancelled through the end of the year.

I don't have a problem -- well much of one -- buying a $60 car. Although I'd like it to be closer to Tangent quality at a Tangent price. Of course, one would need more than one too. But, $60 PLUS shipping makes me hesitant to pull the trigger. Again, I have -- see Tangent 86' foot cars. I might get one of the NYC ones which are going for a little less. I do have an Atlas Penn Central cylindrical I could pair with it.

And I take it back, my invoice shows it didn't ship. Won't find out before tomorrow what happened to it.
Part of the problem is the sales staff is all working remote from home, so I don't know if the packing crew even got the message to look on the right shelf for it.
