I decided I needed a model of this Union Pacific boxcar: rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=2966812So I relocated the bolsters on an Atlas FMC 5077 boxcar and trimmed up the sills. I had some leftover 100-ton trucks from another project so I used them on this car. I'm still trying to figure out which decals are the best match so I haven't repainted it yet.

Glad to see someone else enjoying a Cannon kit.
Nothing to post just yet. My 40' malt box car is almost finished, pending the next layer or two of weathering.

Love the TT bulkhead, stunning in the sunshine! I've been doing a few things around the house the last few weeks. Ripped down drywall downstairs to make room for the future layout, reorganized my "crap" room and actually have a designated work bench now! No longer have to have my living room inundated with brushes, powders, boxes, etc. On the modeling front I've been messing with small decals and Rapido B36-7 truck replacement. Today I did some initial truck weathering on my FMC clone. I hacked off the full length ladders and added the three horizontal grab irons on the cages, but have yet to install cross platforms and lower the brake wheel. I've also altered some weathering on it, I'm close to being somewhat satisfied with that here but need to tie it all together yet. Sorry for the cell phone picture, wasn't motivated to DSLR it yet.

Nothing special, just some Atlas cars I weathered up. I left all the chunky details alone, it was more than I wanted to tackle right now. Added cut levers and air hoses on the tank car, cut levers and crossover platforms on the covered hopper. Ditched the trainman couplers for some Kadees.

I can hardly wait to start mine along with the build thread I threatened a few weeks ago. I've gotten a thrill seeing all the Cannon boxcar models that have appeared on Sunday Photo Fun's since that unboxing thread. As well as tips and advice.

FOOBIE ALERT! A few weeks back I posted a thread about a project that went bad. I got lots of suggestions and those suggestions and URL's led me into a rat hole. That hole led to Foobie Nation and here we are on this fine Sunday. The car below is a composite of several that had extreme paint, rust, and weather problems. Tangent kit with some replacements as I broke parts during rough handling. The most obvious paint is the patch job done by a hapless carman with a nine-inch roller on a stick, a five-gallon bucket of house paint, and stick-on numbers. The roof weathering is from a photograph and the side is from a different photograph. I like a good ole Foob that represents itself well against it. My Seaboard 4750 is the same way, the phase isn't correct but I wasn't dedicated enough to scratch one up. Yours fits the bill just fine!

Grew really tired of the workshop being a disaster. I often like to work in the living room as well in front of the TV, and have no real way of A) organizing my most used tools, and B) moving them around. I spent a few days looking at laser cut organizers, there is some really cool stuff out there, but none of them really fit my needs. So, off to Hobby Lobby and a few bucks in material later, I built exactly what I wanted. Doing a pair of D&M RS3's for a customer. These are club runners essentially. Not fully perfect or 100% correct. That Tru Color Brunswick Green is pretty neat, I dare say its dead on. I never realized just how bad/dated the Atlas RS3 shells are until now..

I was going to mention that but figured the people who cared already knew! The 6901 was a half and half version. Speaking of oddballs, the 6948 received a WC handbrake cover somewhere along the road as well, although you had to look close. This photo from RRPA shows the sliver of color in the top left corner of the cover. www.rrpicturearchives.net/showPicture.aspx?id=1636615

Excellent work! What did you use for those ditch lights? Thanks, the ditch lights I cast in resin they are scale accurate much smaller than what’s available for sale.

A little bit of progress on my Cannon & Co. SP B70-30 kit, these are really fun kits, I'm thoroughly enjoy the construction process! Those are great kits. Back in the "old days" before the Cannon kits, I went on a boxcar building blitz and built one from a Intermountain 5283. As a consequence of some other kitbashes, I had some doors from the Athearn PC&F RBLs, so I cut out the 8-ft doors, added some height, made a mold and cast them in resin. Thus... Elizabeth

Unless anyone has a better idea I'll use Microscale 87-465 for the shield, reporting marks and UNION PACIFIC name and 87-847 beer cars for most of the data. That doesn't cover everything but worst of all the shield is going to be a real pain since the Is in UNION and PACIFIC don't line up with the center stripe on any set I have.

Artur... Thanks for the reply about the ditch lights. Scale CN type ditch lights are as elusive as an SDL39!
