Not sure what scale/forum to put this in so I'll use the crew lounge. Back in the 1980s I picked up a cheap train set at a US box store someplace but I now cannot figure out what it was despite searching google and youtube. The set consisted of lots of pieces of black plastic track, a small AA battery powered steam engine, maybe a couple of cars and some sort of caboose. I don't think it was HO scale but it was close to it. That little train ran really well, no drama, wires or power packs needed, just flick the little side toggle switch and away it went. IIRC the track even included a couple of switches. Couplers were probably some sort of simple link and pin setup. A very reliable train set that I wouldn't mind getting re-acquainted with yet I've never seen one in any hobby shop used bin or anything. Seems these have vanished unless I'm just not looking in the right places.
Does anyone know what brand or set this was? Anyone else remember it?

Thank you for the response! Interesting. Almost like some sort of toy set made just for box stores. The set shown seems more advanced but maybe is just a more expensive set than what I had. I seem to recall maybe an 0-4-0 type engine? Can't believe how many flavours there are in google images but none is a match.
