Well today after watching NKP 765 travel past near my house I took some photos of my just weathered Tangent Penn Central 4750 covered hopper car. The new Tangent model is an excellent model! Tangent nailed both the PC green paint and the PC graphics. As you see the detailing on the Tangent model is great but even better the assembly of the model is excellent. No broken pieces, no glue spots, no bent grabirons, and no popped off running boards! The car is expensive but it is nice once in while getting a car that needs very little work to get a very nice representation of the prototype car. The only thing I did was to replace the wheels with Intermountain .088 wheels, add a coat of Dullcote, and then some light weathering as the car would only be about a year old on my railroad. Tangent did not forget the ends either. All in all a great looking car.

Tom: Sharp looking car. Makes me wish I did not have the Intermountain version. The color looks right on! Intermountains was not. I see a couple of Orange Tangents, and maybe even a Green car in my future. The Tangent product is not cheap, but they did a beautiful job on the PS 4740 and the 4000 CF covered hopppers. I think their 4740 is the nicest production HO RTR car I have seen. I have 16 of them, plus a few of their gonds. Looks like they did an equally nice job on the 4750.
Just wish I did not own so many weathered Intermountain cars.

Lovely model. Holds up well in a large blow up.

Man, that looks awesome, both the model and your treatment of it. I am impressed with the fit of the parts in the end view. I built one of the 4740s and still have four more to build, but haven't gotten around to picking up any of the 4750s. I see I won't be disappointed.

Beautiful model, and great finish, as always, Tom! I especially appreciate the end view - I was mildly concerned that the undecorated cars on the website seemed to show a little bit of a gap where the non-overhanging roof met the tops of the ends, but obviously that's not an issue on the production cars. I ordered a RTR undec and two kits, which I believe have arrived at my house, but I won't have the chance to see them for a few more months.

Definitely a nice ( though out of my budget range) car,but IMHO it's the subtle weathering job you have done that makes the car pop.

Where did you get this from? I checked MB Kleins and they did not have any in yet.......... I ordered min directly from Tangent. Normally I wait for them to get to M B Kleins but being a Penn Central modeler I did not feel like waiting!

Lately Klein has been a little slow on getting the Tangent cars in. On the recent rerun of the PS-4740's, they got them in a month after release, well after the BN's and the IC's were sold out. I had to order my six BN's directly from Tangent. It was a good experience, arrived well packaged, three days after I ordered. I am waiting for Klein to get the 4750's in, as I only need a couple. Plus there are a couple of other things I want from Baltimore.

None at Caboose Hobbies or Kliens. Tangent must be filling in house orders first.

Just FYI, the undecorated kits from this first release have already sold out, which is kind of shocking, since "undecorated kits don't sell..."
