Some progress on my WM RS2 build. The chassis weathering is complete and sound and lights have been installed.

Wow, Adam! That looks great so far. The detailing under the sill is impressive. This morning I decided to swap out couplers and wheelsets on an old Intermountain model. I shot it with some flat clear to dull down the lettering and make the molded-in-color trucks match the paint better. It was cold in the garage so I used my space heater to accelerate the drying of the flat clear. Bad idea. I melted one of the corners of the car to the point where the whole ladder assembly curled up. I decided to fix it up with a leftover part from a Tangent 4740, some Tichy ladder rungs and new parts made from Evergreen channel. The paint isn't a perfect match by any means, but I feel much better about this thing now. Lesson learned with the space heater and old Intermountain kits!

Great modeling! Ryan that will give it a nice patch repair look. That RS2 is looking good as well. Not much accomplished on my end lately.

A little prototype fun, my buddy that I operate trains with is a switchman at South Seattle, his rides this week are these two GP38s, the closer one is ex Penn Central, the other ex TP&W

Got another Rapido SW1200RS patched up for my freelance. My all time, #1 engine that I hate working on. I have had to tear down 4 of these for customers for running issues far.

There is a certain amount of prototypical accuracy to that project. Corner of car crushed when fouling a switch? Tell me you don't work with someone who's done that!

Once I got over the shock of damaging the model I realized it was an opportunity. Maybe I'll paint some weld burns on the repairs.

A day late, but I just finished working on this Russell snow plow. If you guys remember I was looking for some help with the trucks a few months back. It's kinda been languishing on my workbench with the holidays and all but I finally had some time to wrap it up. It's the newer Walthers Proto version decorated for Conrail, so most of the basic details were already there. I added railings on the roof and changed the doors, windows, and somkejack to match the prototype photos. I also made up new headlight supports since the stock one was incorrect. A cut lever, fuel fillers and MU cable/box and conduit were added to the back. The majority of the work was on the front, cutting the plow blade to accept the Overland front coupler and building the folding doors from brass. The rust streaks are a little heavier on the model compared to the prototype, but otherwise I followed the photos. Of course the roof was a guess but I used some photos of another plow to guess what 64523 roof might have looked like.

I couldn't agree more with Adam and Liz. Excellent work! The paint work alone is fantastic, not to overlook the work put into the model. That oxidized yellow is spot on.

Killer job. It really look like painted metal with requisite wear and rust.
