Weren’t Gensets supposed to solve the emissions problem for locomotives? I get a little pessimistic when I see the words “grant” and “California” used in the same article. Thanks, Mark

The issue becomes having the infrastructure to refuel the thing. Fuel cells are fantastic power sources. The only emissions* are heat and water.
*There's emissions associated with the production and transportation of the hydrogen.

I believe the article says that the fuel will be a byproduct of a process available to the railroad.
IF you're producing hydrogen, might as well use it, too.

good idea, but i dont fancy bringing back the genset like carbody, those things are pretty ugly.
