Just picked up my second Riverossi U25C I have a Pennsylvania Railroad one I got a couple years ago but just picked up a PC unit #6510 but it's missing the large PC logo on the long hood 🤔 pictures of the prototype unit show the unit with all the logos? Had anyone bought this unit? If so did you just buy the decals if so which set is best. Thanks

You might check the PC Historical Society for the heralds. I have not used their decals, but I have heard they are accurate. www.pcrrhs.org/store/decals

Most online pics of 6510 shown it with the worms, but I found one without it on at least one side: images.app.goo.gl/nRC8Jg9k8tsWnLo87It’s also interesting that Rivarossi’s model of 6519 has worms, so there must have been some method to the madness.

I get the impression that some of the PC U boats didn't get the worm at the beginning. The date for the wormless 6510 is 1971. Dates of it be-wormed are all after that.
The same holds, I think, for 6519.
So folks yearning for an early PC U boat might go wormless, while those wishing the later version might choose wormy.

Did they get worms due to poor maintenance?

Not enough trips to the vet
I looked at that and a couple didn't get them for a long time, I figured if I got that one it could stand-in for one of those.

I bought all three of the Rivarossi PC U25C’s. One was made intentionally without worms. The other two had them. Athearn and Bowser have also made PC locomotives without the full lettering package.

I wish Hornby or whoever owns the U25C dies now would offer another run. Thet are some of the best running locos I have.

Just asking: how do the handrails look to you? I know they made them metal to last...

Just asking: how do the handrails look to you? I know they made them metal to last... I was quite critical of the handrails when I first saw sample photos posted during their development. Now owning several, they do look OK to me.

I have both the Rivarossi and Korean Brass units. The Korean Brass handrails are better looking but the Rivarossi handrails also look fine to me. I would get either brand but both are currently non existent . -----Ken

Here's a nice shot of a PRR U25C: And here's a discussion from this forum on the Korea Brass and Rivarossi U-25C: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/4446/kbm-rivarossi-u25cNot PC related, but Rivarossi got the colors wrong on their Q and NP U25C's. And they corrected them on their U28C versions of same. But got the green wrong (in my eye) on their BN version. Ed

A number of Korea Brass roadnames are listed on eBay right now (search Korea U25C). I didn't look at all of them, but one says "Free shipping from Korea" so might be Korea Brass itself.
Korea Brass projected doing the Oro Dam Constructors units in its second run, but probably hasn't sold enough of the first run to get that far yet. I'd really like not to have to paint those myself. To date, I've only bought various roadnames in Hornby Rivarossi, including extras for the Oro project if necessarry. Very happy with the Rivarossi units.

I see the Rivarossi units from time to time, still new in box. I just never could quite pull the trigger...more of an EMD SD40-2 fan, now...used to be an Alcophile...I don't see the PC ones, but tend to see the Q red ones...There are stores near me in PA that may have a couple units left.
Given the positive comments, maybe I'd pick one up the next time I see one.

There was indeed method. We at the PCRRHS worked with Rivarossi on these models to get the lettering and numbering styles right. We (Riv and us) chose to do early-PC models including one without the worms which is indeed the 6510. You'll also notice that the models don't have the maintenance base stencil/sticker on the cabs...again, early PC style. It's easier to add those to a model (via Microscale decals) than it is to remove them. As for the handrails, they never bothered me. They're arrow straight and they stay that way; I personally find wavy handrails much more distracting. I also have one of the Korea Brass units that I found for a significant discount. I removed the TCS decoder and fitted a Loksound. It's also a nice runner and looks good but I don't think they're worth the premium they seem to command over the Rivarossi.

[/quote] Craig, Do you have any insight on what happened to the tooling for the Riv U25C after bailed on their brief re-entry into US prototypes? Have or will they sell the tooling to another company or is it just going to languish in a warehouse? Jason C PC guy in Indiana

Thanks for the insight I'll keep the large worms off since I model early PC.
