Tangent indicated in prior newsletters that their next caboose project is near a BBQ joint. They repeated in their latest edition that more prototypes are coming. But besides the above and the upcoming Rapido wide vision rerun due in 22, I'm not aware of anything else coming down the pipe in new tooling (i.e. models never done before) RTR plastic. It's good to maintain interest in cabooses as there are many prototypes left to do and the more we support projects as they come out, the more likely we are to see some of those other gaps filled. Moe’s BBQ ?

I don’t know the difference between the N7 and N10 caboose but the PC had three of the N10’s painted in GM blue for the Detroit Edison trains.

Probably the biggest difference on the N10 is no right hand window. Five also were painted dark green for mail train service.

The Tangent website thanked and credited certain display caboose locations in the US, so I guess the prototype field details came from these:
City of Franklin, IN and the caboose parked by the depot in town Ace Hardware store in Pocopson PA and the DSI-built car on premises there complete with Penn Central modified railings. Illinois Railway Museum for housing one of the former Illinois Terminal cabooses!

Isn't that the truth? I have been slowly working on one that I picked up second-hand at a train show. The problem with it was that the Photo-etch was wrong, and I had no luck getting the correct set before Mr. Wright closed up shop. So, just about everything on the end railings had to be scratch-built out of wire x2. The next hold-up for me is what to do about the missing window frames. Were all the kits shipped out with the wrong photo etch? I would gladly send you the PE from my kit, or the whole kit if you want. The kit is unassembled and I will not be building it. PM if interested! I'm pretty sure that this was an error with just the kit I bought. I wonder if the person I bought it from had ordered it that way in hopes of building an ex-CEI bay-window caboose in L&N paint.

I received the email announcement from Tangent and within ten minutes I ordered all the NYCs and three undecs. Wicked excited! Looking forward to more NYC and early PC releases. N10s were PC built in 1969 number series 24000 to 24049, five were painted dark green and numbered 4750 to 4754 and shorter, more a kin to N7Bs. N12s were also PC constructed 1970 to 1971 and of a different bay window design numbered 24500 to 24549.

Got a PC hack in the cart.....I remember my dad/ mom with some friends driving over to the ex NH Maybrook yards late'60s hitting on that YMCA early evening BBQ. Smell it for miles. Few years later piss on PC (Literally) for burning that Poughkeepsie bridge down.

While none of the cars really fit what I the future railroad will be, I ordered a green NYC for the one show train that I have.

My PC is expected to arrive this Friday, can't wait. Dave L. if your out there and listening, waiting for your next 86' release.....Thrall-built eight door Hy-Cubes along with future consideration of a bi-tri open and side-enclosed low deck auto rack with 28" wheels. Please a big void and demand for these racks.
Oh and for all those frustrated EL fans (Including me), next caboose release please an Erie/ EL Dunmore bay window and or International Car Company series cabeeze.

Any ideas as to when the individual parts will become available? I have a pretty decent Alco Models brass N7 that I'd love to get a Tangent interior, trucks and underframe for. As well as an undec kit. If I could get it all on one order that'd be pretty nice.

There is already a mention of the parts on the web site.

Christian, thank you. I have some of the trucks in my cart as we speak. I'm just trying to get everything in shot. One bill from Tanget on the bank statement will be less alarming to my wife than say two or three. I'm sure I'm just being impatient tho, I'd imagine a new caboose has a whole lot of part numbers to be added to the website.

Evan,
I am curious as the price difference between an undec kit and a bunch of individual parts. It appears from the photos that every part is available in the undec kits.

Evan, I am curious as the price difference between an undec kit and a bunch of individual parts. It appears from the photos that every part is available in the undec kits. Not sure, they haven't listed the individual parts for sale yet. I wouldn't need much relating to the body, roof or end cages so I think there would be some cost savings. I do also want a complete undec kit however as I genuinely would like to build one.

I think there would be some cost savings. Underframe, interior, and trucks for the B&O would run $33.85 plus shipping. A bit more than half the cost of a complete B&O kit. I would imagine that prices for the new model parts will be higher.

Please a big void and demand for these racks. Oh and for all those frustrated EL fans (Including me), next caboose release please an Erie/ EL Dunmore bay window and or International Car Company series cabeeze. OK, I think I have figured out my confusion...
When you say "Erie/EL Dunmore" caboose, as you have in the past, many of us EL fans think of the offset cupola cabooses built at Dunmore Shops like this one...
And although the FIRST bay window caboose, C300, was constructed at Dunmore, the group C301-C350 was built by International Car.
So I have never thought of the C301-C350 cars as "Dunmores" because they weren't built there, unlike the Erie cupola cabooses that were.
And it would be nice to have a model of either style of EL bay window cars. The problem I see with the above caboose is the trucks. Are there any of the ex-Erie bay window cars that still have their original trucks? The one that is stuffed and mounted in Marion, Ohio, doesn't have its "express" trucks.

Those are masterpieces!
A job well done to the designers as well as all the skilled Chinese staff who manufactured, painted, assembled and finished these beautiful models. Their hard work should be acknowledged.

Darn No Southern Bay Windows again this month. Great release though! My SWAG on the timeline for the eventual release of Tangent Bay Window cabeese in SOU livery would be some time in 2023 (i.e. "Tangent's No. 4 Caboose" or some such). The rear trucks (engineer's side) for those SOU Bay Window cabeese had generators. Tangent would never release that caboose with the incorrect trucks...which, by the way, can only be used on that model.
