Would anyone be interested in properly-sized lettering for the Shapeways car sides?
I had started gathering photos a while ago, but the project got sidetracked by life. I have some time on my hands for a few weeks, and would like to go forward with these decals, if there's interest.

A&WP also had 40ft waffle box cars. They are identical to the SCL cars.

Marty Hintz I would also be interested, if you could send a good picture to either Dan Kohlberg or Highball Graphics, one of them should be able to create a set for this car. Rick Jesionowski

I'm working on finding good photographs of clean-enough cars to gather the dimensional data and such off of. Most of the photos out in the public domain are of quite-filthy cars where the data is illegible. I just found one that I can clearly read the data in the yellow box on the left end. I'm looking through some of the historical society and museum collections, and there are a few photos that have some better views of parts of the cars than other parts. I want to make sure I cover any variations in the weights and such if they exist, too. If anyone has any leads, or actual photos, I'd appreciate it.
I'm also a full-time railroader, and this is a labor of love (well, and need, too) for me, not a commercial venture. So, I am asking for patience. I will get the artwork together, and get it to a decal printer. But it probably won't be until next month, at least. I'll post something here when I have more information, as soon as I can.

Have you contacted people such as Dan Holbrook and/or Staffan Ehnbom?

I ordered and received the PDF from the GNHS. Couple of good builder (rebuilder) photos of the car in green and some in sky blue. Good information on the car. Photos are helpful but cannot read the smallest wording.

It's a digital scan of a printed page from over 40 years ago. I agree, there's good information, but no good, clean photos.

You can discern some data if there is a diagram ... Inside length, width, height, cubic capacity, lt wt, capy at the very least.

I looked for these cars in Fallen Flags but originally did not find any good shots. However either I missed them or they are new. Here is a good shot of a clean car: www.rr-fallenflags.org/gn/gn04399d12.jpgLooking forward to modeling one of these in the future!
