I noticed a few new boxcars listed on 3D tonight, PRR X53 and X54, with and without roofwalks. These are from a designer called Bridge Line Design. While these are Pennsy prototypes, the 50' car looks good for PC and into Conrail.
Still hoping that the Reading "XLL" goes live soon, a great CR boxcar option.

Wow, and I was just going to shoot off an email to Nick at Moloco to see if he would consider doing the X53 and X54.
The Branchline kit is a good start for the X53, but the frame supplied in the kit is wrong according to the drawings included in Jim Kinkaid’s article in the January issue of RMC. Not much else needs to be changed to make the Branchline kit look good. Regardless, I'm interested getting both!

Biggest difference between the Branchline plugdoor boxcar and the PRR/PC X53 is that the X53 had a much deeper sidesill than the Branchline car. I made the modification to my Branchline car but looking forward to the 3D Central/Bridge Line car. For some reason I used the X50A designation on my car....

I see the January RMC has an article on these cars. Do they have a picture of the cars the Lehigh Valley leased? I struck out in a casual search, but they only leased five, so it's not that surprising. Thinking they were just patched PRR paint.
I would have bought one Sunday had I known. It's not online to look at yet.

So Strange, same here can't find any of the (5) elusive X53 PRR heritage pic's on the LV.... Only ex PRR 50'Dbl door X56A (many)supplemented to the LV, patched or original PRR #'s retained.

Looks like LV did a complete paint out of the PRR lettering and keystone....and then someone (unofficially?) outlined the keystone in white.

That's just a Shadow Kesytone painted in, no afterthought outline. Does show that these things didn't really get painted after leaving Sam Rea.

Now for your fun history lesson. When Conrail was created and the cars were renumbered under the "master roster" filed with the ICC (And searchable via STB Online records) The cars that were leased by LV with PRR numbers had their marks reverted back to PRR to fit into the roster there instead of being treated separately as "Lehigh Valley" freight cars.

Thanks for digging up that photo. Must be 1975, 1976, given the AMC Pacers on that auto rack. Reporting marks look like the RR from PRR are bleeding through.
I'm not shocked that they basically had the lease terminated for Conrail's purposes.
