Just finished my hotel. What do you think? This is the Walthers Daily Examiner building. Added lights and interiors, signage to match the neon sign. Attachments:

Nice work. I should take inspiration from it to start a similar project of detailing and interior work I've had on the back burner.

Great work, one critique however, the white doors around the corner kinda stand out.

Pete,
Outstanding! That scene fits in beautifully between the 1950s and 70s.

I hate to break the "atta boy" pow wow, but I am confused with the design. Why is there a jewelry store in the FRONT fo the Hotel with no Hotel lobby entrance there, BUT the Hotel sign is there. Then what appears to be the hotel entrance is on the Side of the Building (on another Street) where there is NO sign but that looks to be the Main entrance. To me the jewelry store should be on the side and the Hotel entrance should be on the Main St where the neon sign is. I don't know, maybe I am wrong there but it just does not look right.

The Hotel sign is placed on the "main drag" side of the building so more people will see it. It was more common in the '50's and even later to have a complimentary business on the ground floor of a Hotel. Notice the elevation of the hotel sign -vs- the jewelry shop sign being closer to street level...these small details "anchor" the building to the period quite well.
Thumbs up on the interior detail work - people, window shades, lighting, etc.

Thanks for the comments. I added a night shot. All the interiors are scratch built. The building layout has a retail section in one area (that I made into a jewelry store), and on the other side where the double white doors are is the lobby entrance. I confess the neon sign is where it is mainly because it is a one-sided lighted sign, and the way the town is laid out I cannot see the far side of the sign! This is more obvious in the night photo. I like SCL1234's description! The white doors probably should be weathered a bit. For the brick mortar I have a product called "mortar" in a little white jar but there are different ways to do that. I'm not sure I'd want that neon sign hanging out over what appears to be the edge of the layout anyway. It would surely get snagged during an op session eventually.

That night shot reminds of the old detective movies with the hotel neon sign just outside the window.
I sorta agree with everyone about the sign placement. But since I didn't notice it 'til it was pointed out, it'll probably not be noticed by many. I wonder if one added an "entrance" sign somewhere, whether that would make it all more "right". Maybe with an arrow, or something.
I suggest "opening" some of the windows. On a hot sultry night, as we watch that guy waiting for Sam Spade, he might want a bit of air.

Very nice model. As to the doors, I would think that the hotel would keep the front entrance bright and shiny. I like the doors as they are.
