More lip service when what they need is action. The company doesn't seem to be run well. You live on another planet. Nay, in another galaxy. I fail to see how ANYONE could watch that video and come to your grumpy conclusion. I've decided you are here to do nothing but troll. I won't be interacting with you any longer. You never have anything nice to say. You only chime in to bash. You're like that other guy on here who's signature basically says "HARUMPFFF well ya know if I DID youtube reviews of model trains I'd make some of those more critical guys look like COMPANY SHILLS bahahaha". Enjoy being a miserable human being. I told you weeks ago to click ignore and you chose not to do so. That's your problem not mine.

FWIW, this board does give each user an option to hide posts from individual members. Maybe it's time more people used it?

I've tried on multiple occasions to let bygones be bygones but they will drudge back up a comment from the past like I'm the only grump on this forum. This forum is known for negative attitudes but somehow I am the straw that breaks the camels back. Then they whine to the mods after they get told off again. Im glad someone else sees it.

More lip service when what they need is action. The company doesn't seem to be run well. How long have you worked for Rapido? Why not say Athearn or Bowser or Walthers? I don't believe the posters attacking companies with the tone and criticisms that are occurring here actually work for any model manufacturer. They're trolling to stir up trouble. Criticizing anyone's models that have flaws or errors in a constructive way should help improve the models. Attacking a company or its principals won't help.

Exactly, less drama and personal crap. Nobody cares, just crank out some SD40-2’s and SD45’s for the layout. John

Trim the top of the lightboard that is used for the front headlights, this will correct teh issue. Don't be afraid to trim it real close.

I think Al and the facebook guy if they are one in teh same have some legitimate points about Scale Trains but the delivery is a bit harsh. There do seem to be problems centered around one employee. The email yesterday said hello first name last name for example. That makes the business look amateur but lets give them a pass on this problem and move to much bigger ones. The ETA updates are often way late, the locomotive problems aplenty, the tank car problems, the wrong color on Ferromex and the list goes on and on. The way they treated their dealers is also unfair. I know several people who have had a problem with the company leader and looking at the common denominator I think something is amiss there. Could it be a middle level manager at Athearn placed into a top level position doesn't always work out? He does seem to use the company for the RV trips where a true leader would be in the building during these self acknowledged rough times. These and many more complaints I have all heard before but they can be delivered much more eloquently. There is no doubt the Scaletrains team works hard and has accomplished quite a bit in short time. They have a robust staff and they should have been able to handle it but I think one or more staff members are not working nearly as hard or pulling their weight as much as others from what I hear. The response times are slow, they don't address certain issues with modelers or clubs. They were pretty rude to the train show staff in Texas according to what I read. That is quite the laundry list. I don't hear that much buzz coming from other companies although I am sure they have their own problems. I think Al just needs to work on delivery and others could kill him with kindness to calm him down.
One thing I do find interesting is the RV trips. By their own admission the attendance is 40-100 people. They have and will stop at maybe a few dozen locations. So 3600 people warrants such a spend on marketing? Yet they rudely decline the second largest trainshow in Texas which may have a similar attendance in one spot? There are some real head scratchers here in the decision department. Self serving interests are probably present.

There was a pretty large show there and they attempted to get Scaletrains to come but got some rude responses and ignored for days on end. It was all on Facebook. Here's a crude copy/paste job: I got to say Scaletrains! You guys better keep up your A+ product you put out because if it falls short of that you’re toast! I run the 2nd biggest train show in Texas and me and my counterpart have be rudely been rejected by you guys only to be told this past two weeks that you will show up at our club for your show without a courtesy email! Gotta say, my folks are from Tennessee and have a respectable manner but you better change your manners because it stinks!! I just got to say because I your product is good but your arrogance stinks. Check it fellas!! Reply20h Most Relevant is selected, so some replies may have been filtered out. The comment Craig A. Caddell is replying to has been deleted. Craig A. Caddell Shane Wilson Shane you should share with your reply from my counterpart Don Watts that you sent within these past three weeks. We have been asking for months a big promo for your road show you out all out on the train show circuit. Begging and pleading that we are the 2nd biggest show in Texas. We in Temple, TX are all excited about you guys and still received a zero. Please be honest. I met you at Amherst last year a d your guys at the RPM show in St Louis this past July asking if you might be able to come. They looked as if they didn’t know. Come on! Please check your email bank man! Your schedule in New Braunfels and Ft Worth around the same time! Reply19h Shane Wilson Craig A. Caddell: I made a post early early this morning and it seems to no longer appear on our FB page. The club filled-out the invitation form some time ago and I’ve been corresponding with a club member since January 12th about visiting during the Gulf Coast Road Trip this February/March. Here’s the first email I sent, “Thank you for inviting us to conduct a Meet & Greet at the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders. We’ll be in your area in early March. As the first stops and dates for the Gulf Coast Road Trip become more clear over the next week or so, I’ll reply with a specific date and time.” And here’s the club’s response, “Thanks and I will be standing by”. I sent this email two days later (January 14th)… “We'll be in Temple, Texas on Thursday, March 2nd and would like to conduct a Meet & Greet starting at 7:00pm. We'll arrive by 6:15pm and the whole event will last about 3 hours from set-up to teardown. During a Meet & Greet, we share our story, show how model trains are made, and answer any questions attendees may have. We also display our latest products and have giveaways such as T-shirts and hats. The presentation/discussion is live and supported with visuals (photos and video). Depending on the number of questions, this usually takes about an hour. If time allows and with the club’s permission, we’ll have locomotives we can operate on the layout afterward. Also with the club’s approval, we’d like to invite everyone in the community to attend.” We appreciate the club’s consideration and look forward to your reply.” The club suggested coming on Saturday because that’s the usual club meeting day. We already have a commitment on Saturday. Thursday is the only time the Road Trip will be in the Temple area. As mentioned in this thread previously, the club declined Thursday evening. I sent follow-up emails on January 18th and 24th asking the club to reconsider and have not received a response. The door is still open if the club would like to host a Meet & Greet. I will call you soon so we can take this offline and handle the situation as adults.

I am not seeing rudeness or arrogance from ScaleTrains in the above post.
If it's there, it disappeared (for me) in the "crudeness" of the copy/paste job. I am not entirely sure who said/wrote what.

Ed Hello Ed. There was more on Facebook but its spread all over the thread and hard to copy. In a nutshell, Scaletrains sent a rude email to the trainshow organizers and they were not happy about it. I was just explaining that it is not only Al that has a problem with Scaletrains there is quite a bit of buzz from many about problems with them. I hope they are able to resolve each issue over time.

I don't sugar coat anything. Yes they have issues with all sorts of dealers, show people, customers, etc. Yes, a real leader would be in his building during crisis and not on a company funded vacation to reach less people in 2-3 years than one show or youtube video would reach. It's all silly AF. But so are most of the fools here that are just in their fan club and can't accept they make mistakes.

Then probably the best thing to have done is to post a copy of that e-mail. As I said, if there was a problem, I'm not seeing it demonstrated. Whether it's a good or a bad idea to personally visit lots of hobby shops and train shows and the like is something I don't know. I can see negatives and positives. But THEY are the guys making the decisions. Not me. Several years ago, ScaleTrains sent a couple of their guys to BAPM (Bay Area Prototype Modelers). I had a nice and informative discussion with one of them. Other manufacturers showed also. I'd be thrilled if they were therre next time I am. But that's up to them. Ed

So I have both a Scale trains and new release Proto 2000 SD45. I also own several Scaletrains locomotives and rolling stock, so this is not a bash just my observations. The Scaletrains SD45 was a Southern. It had the same Cab to long and short hood mismatch that started a Athearn and has followed Scaletrains. Easliy fixed in about 10 minutes. The dynamic vent on top of the long hood is missing and from photos of Southern units it should be there. The last thing I saw was the handrails at the steps are not painted yellow. I will add I have not looked at as delivered photos so this may be correct. The Proto 2000 is a NW block with the one up one down brake cylinder arrangement(main reason for my purchase). Out of the box I have found one missing detail and that is the dummy MU plug. I will try to take pics for SPF of the two side by side. I congratulate Scaletrains for posting the video and letting everyone know why there may be delays and that corrective action is being taken before delivery to the the customer.
How is the ScaleTrains running quality? Esp at slow speeds.

I've got 17 of their road engines*, and they all run "just fine". By that, I mean that I haven't done a proper analysis, nor have I noticed any irritating problems.
I DO have some locos by "others" that are noticeably "irritating". Not Awful. But Irritating.

If second run had DRGW units, sales wouldn't have been soft. Not for Rio Grande, because it sells. Can't speak for other roads. Shane Wilson confirmed on Facebook next run of SD45's will have DRGW.
