It seems that within the past 1-2 weeks ebay has disallowed the option to save fullsize images from auction listings. I have an offline collection of various interesting items posted to ebay through the years and am disappointed in this latest technological affront.
I have searched google and youtube for solutions but the only thing I could find was the stock "Computers 101" advice about saving images from websites generally which I am quite familiar with.
For clarity, my old process was to click on the image layer which produced a popup that allowed the large image to be saved. When I do that now, in both Firefox and Chrome all I get is a postage stamp size copy of the image. Screenshots are also not possible because the fullsize image is never fully revealed, you can only zoom in on sections of the image at once.
Any solutions for this problem?

You can try double clicking the image. I know that sometimes works for me, not necessarily eBay. Glenn

Hi. Thanks for the response. I tried that but it just opens the expected popup image gallery, initial image is still shrunken in that window and when saving.

I just did a test and saved four full-sized photos via the normal right-click --> save as. Using Firefox browser.
For instance any photo for this item can be saved full-size.:
I think some listings only have smaller photos so there's nothing you can do about those.

^ The first image in that auction is very small while the others are the normal larger size.

It is possible its an Ebay glitch also, I seem to remember this happening once before.

Problem was fixed on ebay's side a few days ago so yes it does appear this was a glitch after all.

If you can get a "full sized" image at all, you can do a screen shot.
Apparently not needed this time, but can be used next time.

You can always do a bit of URL hacking. Right-click on the image and chose "Open in new tab". Once that's done the image URL may end in s-l500.jpg or s-l1600.jpg.
If the number is not 1600, change it to 1600, ie change s-l500.jpg to s-l1600.jpg
This is the highest resolution image available, so you can go ahead and save that: Right click and "Save image as..."
