Hi All I have some old Microscale 87-48 decal sets I got on clearance sale, see below:
My question is, what is the purpose of the solid red rectangle decals in the middle of the page that have no writing on them? I was thinking maybe the modeler is supposed to apply the blank red rectangle on the diesel model first and then apply the 'Danger High Voltage' or 'Engine Water Fill' white lettered (clear background) decal on top of the first one, so the red shows through the clear portion of the second decal. Is that correct, or even physically possible? I noticed the Microscale website has a new updated version of the 87-48 set that has the red rectangles with white letters already inside them now, take a look here:
Can some of you learned gentleman fill me in on this topic? Thanks, Jonas

I've never used this set, but I think you're right about placing the letters over the plain red rectangle. It is possible to do this.
I like to let the first decal set awhile before I place the second one, though you can do both at the same time. The rectangle is more likely to give you trouble settling down over any objects below whereas the lettering typically settles down easily.
