Atlas GP38 Project. With this project I want to give the new Soundtraxx Blunami a try. I saw it for the first time at the 2023 St. Louis RPM show and the rep was great. Very helpful and really sold me on this concept. He put up with a lot of questions from me. I was solidly in the ESU camp, but after seeing the Blunami and following its progress. I have converted. So this is my first model with it. I always like to use a power pack/ keep alive/ stay alive. Regardless of what the manufacturers want to call their particular product. I want to have them in my models. I like to use the same brand as the decoder I am using. I did not like the configuration that Soundtraxx put their stay alive in. It was very limiting and a space hog. I bought one, examined it and then proceeded to disassemble the caps. What you see here is two things. My first ever 3D print with my new printer. Also the new configuration for the stay alive.

Very neat and professional looking.
But, looks like a space hog.

I did something similar. I epoxied the caps together--takes less room.

It may look like a space hog, but only takes up unused space. In its original configuration, I could not put it anywhere.

Brian,
The speaker is also looking promissing. I got similar designs from a shop on Shapeways and they sound a better then the default baffle you get with a ESU sugercube speaker.

Brian, The speaker is also looking promissing. I got similar designs from a shop on Shapeways and they sound a better then the default baffle you get with a ESU sugercube speaker. The enclosure is my own design also. It is a first try in this model. I patterned the cavity off of a speaker I had that had a good sound. It was only one speaker though. I made it two and doubled the cavity. I am not a speaker expert. So Time will tell. I found a low Hz speaker on Digikey. Hoping to get some better low end sound. The lowest I could find was 250 Hz. I was told by an engineer at work that anything under 200 Hz would be pretty decent. Again. Time will tell. Brian
