I find some real world paint jobs in pastel colors, notably on some relatively recent (post-1956) covered hoppers, quite attractive; and I wouldn't mind seeing some models in such colors with non-prototypical lettering.

The NYOW station in Middletown, NY is not long for the world. It's been bad for years but in the last couple its gotten REAL bad. It's sad, very cool old building.

Brown Eggs in a basket, similar but different. I really can't have too many SP boxcars for the era that I model on the D&RGW, 2 from Rapido, 1 Athearn Genesis, and an Atlas FMC 5503 which almost too new - I may sell it, at the time I ordered it I hadn't realized it was so close to the end of my time line with a 5-79 build date.

They kind of look like Easter eggs.

Happy Easter! Haven't dyed eggs in 40 years or so. But we did yesterday! Some trains later

For the springtime, I'm temporarily moving my era from September of 1969 to May of 1970. An eight month change means some new faces and colors on the now ex-CB&Q mainline through East Dubuque, IL. Tim VanMersbergen

It’s MARCH!!! It’s MADNESS!!! It’s March SD45 Madness, that is!! Here are a few pix after a slow start to Photo Fun Sunday. EMD’s SD45 was a brute of a locomotive boasting 20 cylinders and 3,600hp. It looked the part as well with its signature flared radiators that were required to cool the high-output 645E3 engine. Some 1,260 were built during its production run from 1965 through 1971. The Norfolk & Western purchased 115. Shown below is Athearn’s model of N&W #1745. The model is painted in N&W’s F6 scheme. The following details have been added: • Hood lift rings • Salem air dryer filter • Drop Steps • MU receptacles • MU cables • All-weather windows • Trainline hoses • Windshield wipers • Kadee couplers And here is Athearn N&W #1796 in Pevler blue. Good discussion of Pevler blue on ( atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/thread/11233/sd40s).
