A low clearance bridge in Durham, North Carolina has video cameras set up to record the once a month or more event of a truck or recreational vehicle smacking into a Norfolk Southern bridge. The clearance from the roadway to the bottom of the bridge is only 11'8". NS has put a crash beam in place just before the actual bridge, to take the brunt of the impact between the too tall trucks or campers. The City of Durham has put sensors well ahead of the bridge that triggers flashing warning lights alerting the driver that their vehicle is too tall. Yet,.......you guessed it drivers continue to destroy their vehicles by not paying attention to the warning devices and knowing the height of the vehicle. Videos of the the crashes.....after a while its actually funny to watch the destruction..... 11foot8.com/

Jim Thanks for the link. I guess that driver might be looking for work. It pays to know the height of the truck and reading the signs. Larry
