Good Evening to all the Forum Folks.
Had lots to do this morning through the afternoon, so no breakfast.
As evening approaches, I figured we could relax a bit with something a bit stronger than coffee or soft drinks. So, the bar appears well stocked. I prefer dry red wine, so I'll start with a glass while I look over the day's Forum activites.
On this start to the Memorial Day weekend, I raise a glass in honor of all those who have served to make our country what it is and toast those who made the ultimate sacrifice with their life. SALUTE!!

Evening to you as well. I too shall lift a glass to salute to those that have dies and provided us a wonderful way of life. I however prefer a nice Sauvignon Blanc for my beverage. Busy day, but now time to relax. My daughter is coming down tomorrow for a few days and tomorrow night a fine dinner at one of the best seafood restaurants on the West Coast.
Happy Memorial Day to all.

This evening we will be having dinner, with live music provided by a group known as the Trailer Park Troubadours. I'll bring along something for them to autograph if they're good, and a set of earplugs to wear if they're not.

It's not even noon yet, and Dee has eaten all of the bananas. I do appreciate her offer to share the termites with me, but I think I'll pass. Thank you anyway. I spent last night doing rolling stock inventory and making car cards. There is a park here where there were several military buildings from WWII, and the military museum wants me to make some models of what they would have looked like during their period of use. It's nice out today, so I'll probably take the bike and go take some pictures and measurements.

Sounds like a pleasant way to spend a couple hours this afternoon, Douglas.

Well, the band was more entertainment than music. It was cute and fun, no earplugs, but no autographs, either. I did buy one of their CDs, support your local starving musician... ;D This evening we will be having dinner, with live music provided by a group known as the Trailer Park Troubadours. Terry, Nice to know it was a good time and not wasted or a total loss!! I have a CD I got some years ago by a "starving comedian". It too is cute & fun-ny. Hate to run, but I gotta go get my son from work.

Good Evening to all the Forum Folks. It has been an excruciatingly long week and next week, at least through Tuesday night's Town Board meeting isn't looking too good, either. It's been work, errand and taxi running and just generally too darn tired after late, long days to do anything on the Forum or the trains. Spent the day with LD, going to several "antique" places. We were looking specifically for a bench of some sort to put at the end of my train building. We have plans to put down some mixed rock/gravel for the bench and the whiskey barrel and not yet sure what the border will be. At our favorite place, a little over an hour away, we found a RR lantern stamped on the top with RDG Co. and possibly LOCO Div. At least that's what it looked like to us. It has a red globe and is silver in color. I'll try to get some pics of it and post a few. Can't say it's genuine, but they wanted $95.00 for it. We managed to get it for $72.00, so I hope we didn't get "taken". ;D Also picked up two HO scale, mini-metals "box" trucks (Sears & B&O) for $3.00 each and two HO scale, Mini-metals semi-trucks, (REA & Purina Chows) for $8.00 each. And lastly, a couple of insulators with the wooden pegs that screw into them for $6.00 each. We were pretty happy!! At another place we found a large, regular, old, Dietz lantern for $6.00, so we just HAD to get it too. We had a good time, that's for sure. I see you guys have been pretty busy. Temps today were 88F and more of the same for tomorrow, with a bit more humidity. Little chance for rain til maybe Monday afternoon or Tuesday, maybe. Going to try to get to the trains tomorrow and do something..... B)

Saturdays don't seem to get much activity. I'm sitting trying not to melt, with the temp outside roughly that of molten lead, when you factor in humidity. Our a/c is running flat-out, and the temp inside is slowly creeping above 85. Maybe in a couple more hours, when the sun starts to go down, it will catch up. Other than that, I spent part of the middle of the day at one of my "local" hobby shops. I was wondering why the a/c in my new truck didn't seem to be cooling like it should, until I stopped and got out. Wow...

Terry, you could always move here. We're only at 54 today. I spent the day finishing up on my track rearranging which has given me much better running. I've still got a couple of minor glitches to work out. My wife got me a new video camera which I've been getting used to. It's small and gets into tiny areas of the layout, and gives me some views from the backdrop side. Once I get better at using it, I'll post some pictures.

Good Evening Terry & Douglas.
Just finished another long shift at work. Day 6, today. Only have to work tomorrow afternoon and then again, all next week. Temp on my patrol vehicle showed 85F at 0900 and 102 at 1600!! Was either 99 or 100 for our high, yesterday and tomorrow should be around 102, before cooling to the upper 90's again on Monday. The humidities are almost as high as the temps. No time for trains and it isn't looking good for the rest of next week, either. I'm kicked back in the recliner, looking over the Forum, with a glass of a nice, dry, red wine. Ahhhhh....... ;D

Another warmish and humid Saturday evening here in southeastern, NC. I'm kicked back, once again, with a glass of red wine, after having been out in the train building, running a couple of trains this evening. 1st time in almost 2 weeks. I need to get back at painting rails/ties, adding more feeder wires and some ballast and basic scenery around the tracks, till I get more backdrop work done. At least I can relax some this weekend.

Sorry gents and esses I wrote my SEL piece in the ST by mistake, I wasn't trying to compete and wonder can the whole section be transferred across? Jim Brodie--Modom uses James for Sundays or if I am in trouble! After 56 years wed I am catching on to when there is some grief coming my way!! Jim, I got it moved for you. It's a couple posts above this one, now. No one's worried about you trying to "compete", Jim. I'll let Modom use James and I'll stick with Jim, OK? ;D

Hey! It is Saturday and we want to hear what is going on in your world today???
My Saturday was very slow with a little action on the Union Pacific out of Roseville but no special trains or units today. I am looking at the new 1988 Genesis model of the UP Heritage unit for the Katy line. Nice model but it is out of my era completely. It just came to my door steps a couple of weeks ago and I had to keep it! Larry

It's been insane around here. I've been involved with outdoor projects, and with the MRI trailer, and have barely had time to check in here, and been very lax about posting. I am around, but the next month is still going to be nuts.
