After a couple of weeks I finally finished some new freight cars! This is a Branchline Models #1000A 50' Boxcar Kit assembled to replicate the Lot 883-B Boxcars assigned to the Peoria and Eastern by the NYC. Painted the body Century Green and the roof and ends black. Lettered using the NYC Herald from Microscale Set #74 and the rest of the lettering was supplied by Mark Vaughn. The Comet slogan was applied to a number of Peoria and Eastern Boxcars. This is an Atlas 3500CF ACF Covered Hopper Kit, painted with Floquil Primer and lettered with Champ Decals. This is an Atlas 23,500 Gallon Tank Car Kit, Painted with Floquil Black and lettered with a Highball Graphics Decal. Thanks for looking! Rick J

Another nice set of cars, Rick. As an electrical issue has brought progress on my layout to a virtual standstill, I put up the useable sections of my blue painted backdrop from the layout's previous location. I need to extend it and I have one glaring gap. It's also going to need some touch-up work. A "panoramic" view from left to right. I also tried to take a fair shot of the yard lead tracks, facing the yard area.

This past week I added Kadee couplers and real 3M scotchlite striping to a pair of tank cars and a new locomotive. The GP40 NS 1369 is an Atlas Master model, which got No. 58's and a white sill stripe. Still to come are the all-weather cab windows and a new horn. I also removed the foot boards on the front and rear pilot and used a silver sharpie marker to highlight the air and M.U. hose connections. The two 25, 500 gallon tank cars are also Atlas models, with kadee No. 119 double shelf couplers and yellow striping added to match other cars in the prototype number series, but I didn't find pictures of these specific road numbers. All 3 pieces or rolling stock:

Thanks to Dick Elwell I was able to detour my set of light power over the Hoosac Valley. The slug is powered. was an Athearn sd40-2 with a Atlas motor. made my own handrails with smokey valley stanchions.

The talent on here is beyond measure. I thought maybe I'd slip back in time(ish). If one ignores a couple of more modern cars, it seems like it's 1959 in this picture.

Randall, that's a very good looking high short hood GP and pair of tank cars. dhtr, I like those locos. Did you have a difficult time powering that slug, with such a low hood area to work with? Bob, those "Q" steamers are nice lookers. Almost makes me want to model the transition period. Douglas, You can always say that those boxcars were caught in a time warp or that they were an "experiment" the railroad wanted to try out. Good batch of pics, guys. Keep 'em coming.

Surprised to see HO and N in the same SNFF ... but, hey, it's modeling railroads. Nice work all.
Now we need to get more active participation on this board ... tell your Atlas friends about it.

eja, the decision was made to put all the SNFF/WFF pics into one topic so everyone can see and share each other's work, rather than go to each scale topic to view the pics. It's a bit "different", but I like it. Sometimes we forget to state our scale in our pic posts. I know I did. (OOOPS!!) P.S., it's HO

A panoramic view of CBQ #5502 and #5504 O-4 Mikado's on the inner mainline track in the center of San Marino on the "new" JJJ&E. Both CBQ O-4 Mikado's were kit bashed from generic Kato Mikado's using GHQ pewter detailing kits. Closeup of CBQ O-4 Mikado # 5506 in San Marino. CBQ O-4 Mikado #5506 was also kit bashed from a generic Kato Mikado using a GHQ pewter detail kit. Stay cool and run steam..... Thanks for posting the pictures. The small size of the locomotives must make it difficult to do this type of work. It is good to see kitbashing in N scale. Mabye KATO will offer some new steam power since the Daylight was an excellent model, but it is not a model that could be kitbashed into anything else. I would guess the Mikes run well like other KATO models. Larry

I'm using the original plastic boiler casting of the Kato Mikado. After over 35 plus years in HO scale, I really enjoy N scale modeling for the past 12 years. I find kit bashing these steam locomotives easy to do. Stay cool and run steam.....

Catt, those are some nicely detailed Z scale cars. I, for one, would like to see more.
Bob, that's some nice work on the 1825. I like the looks of all your Mikados.

I've done more work on the pedestrian/bike bridge. This thing has given me fits because this area wasn't designed to accommodate a bridge . I've still had to rely heavily on my modeler's license, but I think I hit a tolerable compromise. At least it looks like it could support more than a Z scale cat. I'm not in love with the bridge ending into space, but the illusion is that it continues on. I could have addressed that, but being so close to the edge of the layout, my "fixes" would have caused more problems then they solved.

Doug, I'm guessing that the bridge ends at the aisle,am I right? If so might I suggest that you extend the fashia up to the walkway height.

Catt, you read my mind. I've done that in front of the yard rolling stock storage, and as this area becomes more "finished", Ill also bring the fascia up, allowing it to also work as protection.

That bridge looks pretty good to my eye, Douglas.
I agree with Catt, that bringing the fascia up would make it look more "finished".
