I had a meeting yesterday in Denver and you probably know what that means to a Model Railroader. Yes, Caboose Hobbies is still the place to visit if you want to see model trains and what is available to us. I had just received a Turbine from them last Friday so my purchase was only a magazine this time.
I walked past the books as they have a fine selection probably second only to the Train Shop. I find books at both of those places that almost impossible to find any other place. Any others out there that visit Caboose Hobbies or other great stores that sell trains!!!!

Larry, I've never had the opportunity to shop Caboose Hobbies in person. Not likely that I ever will, but.... one never knows! While my not so LHS, The Antique Barn & Model RR Shop, in Wilson, NC, doesn't carry a large selection of books, I've never been dis-satisfied with the service or staff when shopping. If he doesn't have something I want and it's available, he'll gladly order it and ship it to me, saving me a trip back up. ;D

Mine does also for many items but is limited on money and I like to see a book before I pay close to $100 for some of those now. I always try to visit stores when I am out of town since they might have something on consignment that I am looking for. Once in New York in the mid 1070 era, I was told they would not test the model I was looking at unless I purchased it. I said I wanted to purchase it but wanted to make sure if ran good as some brass can be tight and not run freely. He said we do not test models unless you buy it so I said thank you and left the store. That was the only time I have ever met or talked to a shop owner that was unfriendly. I ended up with many copies of that locomotive over the years but not from his store. Larry

It's true Larry, the guy at my LHS does take good care of his customers.
I've shopped several places when I do travel. I only get books every now and again and I'm with you. I'd need to see it before plunking down close to or over $100 for a book.
I can only remember a couple places that were a bit on the unfriendly side and of course, I don't go back to places like that.
