I thought they had all been scrapped. I mean really scrapped, like absolutely nothing left. If this is real... this needs to be saved! I mean, good GOD!

When I originally posted I thought it was the shell of an old Milwaukee Road Class A atlantic, but after looking at photos, I'm pretty sure that's not what it is (though it bears a strong resemblance to one). Still, it's a streamliner, that much is pretty obvious, and they're ungodly rare. I didn't realize that there were any 'unaccounted for' survivors like this.

Where is this located? With the "door" on the side, are you sure it's a locomotive, and not a parade float, or something?

Front of it looks too legit to the late '30's to me for it to be a completely faked up loco. Door might have been for maintenance access, idk? Also--construction-wise--there's too much nicely done curved sheetmetal work for me to buy it as simply a faked up parade loco. Was it something Milwaukee Road? ?

Ah. Sigh. Well that would explain it. For a moment when I saw it, my heart leapt that at the possibility of an undiscovered 'ultimate' restoration project.

Amazing how there is little to nothing left of the "Milwaukee" in its namesake town outside of track and a few decrepit items.

Well, polish and paint it, get rid of the door, and replace it with sheet metal, hollow it out, give it a boiler and oil-burning firebox, plop her on the chassis of a 4-4-2, and voila! You've got a real Class A, then just fabricate a tender, and put her on the rails!
