Good Evening once again to all the Forum Folks. Been a long week of Monday's, even with having taken Tuesday off. Next Tuesday evening will be interesting, to say the least. A special called meeting to address an ordinance that was adopted in 1975 that hasn't been enforced since???, that a complainer wanted enforced. Now that enforcement is about to commence, all the affected people in Town are going to have their say and try to have it amended. I believe they'll be successful. I expect this will be round 2, of a 3 to 5 round fight. Temps are still in the low 90's. We could use some rain. We've found more plants in the yard that the deer have been munching on, so LD has had Deer Off sprayed on most of the yard plants to try and put a stop to it. Douglas, Donnell popped in and took car of those spammers. Hope you and the wife are feeling better. Time for a glass of wine, kick back and peruse the Forum, while some thunder rumbles in the distance. The RADAR shows a good size storm heading our way.

I'm heading off to my second-closest LHS, only 130 miles away, to trade off some "problem children" that either don't fit my era or region, or have been giving me fits as far as running. My wife will be joining me, and we've decided to return home via the Blue Ridge Parkway for a change. We're in no hurry, and the slow drive should be fun.

Terry, sounds like a fun day you and the wife have planned. LD took me out for breakfast and then we hit up a few stores, trying to find some work shoes for her. She's on her feet all day on a concrete floor, working in the kitchen of a nursing home here in Even found a few things I needed. Haven't been to the not so LHS in a couple months, now. Not enough time or money at the moment. Hope the rest of the Forum Folks are having a good day.

Spending the week in Denver is always interesting and I got to see several trains on the old C&S line in Louisville Colorado. On Tuesday, I drove up to Cheyenne and got to see several trains in one hour on the Overland line. It is busy all of the time. The BNSF had a windmill train coming into Cheyenne from the South and that is always an interesting sight. They did a crew change and proceeded out of town. I got over to Caboose Hobbiews again on Friday on my way back to the airport and purchased some new books. Nice to be home but back to Denver again tomorrow for more adventure and maybe even some work! Larry

Unfortunately, I spent my weekend moving. BUT... this gave me the perfect opportunity to streamline all of my belongings, and get riD of all the junk that I've been collecting over the years! Once we get settled in put new place, I'm going to build a brand new workbench, and go to town. Frankly, I'm tired of having all these unfinished projects, and I want to get them done!
So, hoarding junk, boooo! Building a new workbench, and finishing up a bunch of projects, yea!

I see you've been quite busy, Larry. Don't you just hate it when work gets in the way of all that FUN!! Yes, it can get serious at times with my need of both food and Home! I should take my password and log in along so I can reply at night in the hotel. I plan on going to North Platte on July 4th if the viewing tower is open at the Union Pacific yards. That should be fun to visit the UP yards since flying home for one day is out of the question. Larry

It's Friday evening here 22-20 hrs (England) this curious Limey would like to know what the rank descriptions are and how does one qualify ie senior member-new member-full member etc. It's nice to stand ones corner when buying the drinks, sometimes concessions are allowed because of age-OAP- or unemployed or anywot and if it is a club then sometimes one has dues to pay? Jim Brodie. One 0 gauge question please. Who makes a Brass 2 rail S P Cab Forward ?

It's Friday evening here 22-20 hrs (England) this curious Limey would like to know what the rank descriptions are and how does one qualify ie senior member-new member-full member etc. It has to do with the number of posts made. For example, 100 posts relieves you of the "junior member" moniker. "Senior member" is not a commentary upon one's age.

Jim Brodie. One 0 gauge question please. Who makes a Brass 2 rail S P Cab Forward ? Jim Several have been imported in the last thirty years, but Sunset might have been the last recently. I believe they did the AC4, but you might be wanti ng the AC10, 11 or AC12 as they are the most popular. Lately, most used brass is HO, but I did see one AC12 at Caboose Hobbies two weeks ago in O scale. You could do a search there and see if it is still on consignment. I did a search on Sunset and the only stock they have is the AM- model Cab Forward, a very early model that was not so great. And speaking of Friday ativities, we drove up past Marysville to the peach orchards and got some of the best peaches I have tasted in many years. On our way back, having lunch in a small town north of Roseville, the local Redding turn came south pulled by none other than three of the newly rebuilt SD59MX models. They are absolutely great looking with the new flaired radiators and the new 710 motor sounds like a million bucks. The rebuilt SD59MX 3200HP locomotives have taken over the local Redding and FRC turns that run out of Roseville three times a week. The Redding turn actually runs out of Redding but I get to see it three times a week into and out of Rosevill if I go trackside. The SD40-2's are now gone around here except for one or two. They will be missed. Larry

Good Friday Evening to all the Forum Folks.
Been another lengthy day. As soon as I left work, went to the visitation for our Fire Chief's wife, who passed away early Wed. morning. We had hot & humid temps once again and the on/off t-storms started about 4:15 and are still rumbling here and there. We have a 60% chance of rain tomorrow, but still temps in the upper 80's & low 90's. Yuck!!
Didn't get to the trains last night and won't get there this evening either. Hoping to get out there tomorrow.
Don't get to see many CSX, SD-40-2's around here, either. Though we are on a "dead end" track, there are 2 feed mills, 1 soybean transfer facility, and a few other smaller rail served businesses. CSX runs some older 6-motor units that supplanted the SD-40-2's. I have seen a few and have some pics, as they are the GP-7/9's of the "modern" era.
I do hope that one and all had a good day.

Mike, we seem to be in a dust bowl here. I haven't had any rain in over a month, and the last time it rained, we had less than .2". That was 6 weeks ago. The last time we had any significant rain was Memorial Day weekend, when our neighbor's tree fell on my garage. I think we are a little too far away to get your local news. Will you be able to attend the funeral, or will you be on-duty?

Will you be able to attend the funeral, or will you be on-duty? It seems that lots of places are having severe drought this year. We've been pretty fortunate, so far. There were a couple of times it was getting a bit on the dry side, but all in all, we're close to our normal average for the 1st time in about 4 or 5 years. Our closest "local" news is at least 45 minutes away. Our County is not in any of the surrounding, local markets. The TV news stations surround us, but are too far away for any regular, decent coverage. They are out of Wilmington, New Bern, Greenville, Fayetteville and Raleigh. Something really BAD or unusual has to happen to even get their interest in the way of a phone call or, maybe even a TV crew or two to bother to show up. ;D I doubt I'll be able to get to the funeral today. We have a large, ongoing event in town and if anything goes wrong with traffic or crowds..... Well, I'll be involved and hearing about it.

Dear Sirs, Would you like some of our water mmm maybe on second thoughts better hang on as it hasn't rained now for three days. Thanks for the cab Fwd info I saw one at £800 which for brass in 0 gauge is a good price. I don't mind versions of the older models. I did have a brass model in HO scale some twenty years back but when we moved I had to choose between 0 00 and H0. As I started out in 0 in the 1940s I returned back to my first love. I still have one clockwork engine from those days, I may re wheel it if I can't turn the wheels down on the lathe-metal fatigue etc-the wheels not the lathe. Just need to find a small Mike now like No 19 on the O&NP Emperor of the North. James Brodie.

Good Evening to all the Forum Folks. Still hot as blue blazes. Wilmington (NC) broke their 1936 record of 100 when they hit 101 today! Chance of severe weather sometime late tonight or early in the morning. Then more rain chances throughout the day on Saturday. Hoping it stays quiet tomorrow, but we'll see. Already had supper, now if I can convince myself to wander out back to run a train or two. Either way a glass or two of a nice, dry red wine is on the agenda this evening. Hope that everyone had a good day.

We still have very cool nights and the high yesterday was in the high eighties. I was out and about for a little train watching yesterday since the 5000th GE GEVO was on the train westbound. I had my Birthday yesterday and I considered seeing the new locomotive as the Union Pacific present to me. Larry

Larry, that was nice of UP to give you such a nice birthday present. Happy Belated Birthday to you, sir! Did you happen to get any pics of the special loco? Yessir, the heat & humidity are still present and oppressive, but today was a bit different. Plenty of cloud cover, so the temps were a bit lower. The rain showers came by late this afternoon, but the heavy stuff is just south of us. Time for another glass of wine, now that I made it home.

Good evening. I had a strange experience on the way home from work. I stopped for gas at the usual place, but about a third of the way through the process, the pump shut down. I restarted it, and noticed they had jacked the price up ten cents a gallon. I stopped the pump and left. I now will frequent the station across the street. I will also make obscene gestures at my former station of choice as I drive by.

Holy cow. That is ridiculous. I would never go there again either. Geez.
I stopped by the LHS on the way home from work today. Went looking for some Microscale Reading cab decals. None to be had. Oh well.
