For the show, the City of Cleveland may be either partying in the streets or not too happy. If LeBron elects in the next few days to come back to Cleveland, they residents will be dancing in the streets.SNIP Keep it tuned..... Folks will be walking on air. LeBron just announced he's returning to Cleveland. They're on a roll, first the NMRA National and now a homecoming for LeBron James .

DC has the Cameras, and Virginia honors the DC Violations if one does not PAY !! got nailed some years back going under the Capitol Building of all places. and believe the photo was "Photo Shopped" or tampered with as the car was alone, but recall being the car near the tail of a bunch when going thru there, when is there No traffic in DC ? maybe if your 7 states away not paying is safe, but wouldn't try it. did cuss out those DC Thugs when sending in the payment, never heard any thing back, so that was some satisfaction. Bosh will now definitely head to Houston. Back in Miami, Pat Riley is playing "it was great while it lasted!".

I'm going - I fly in Sunday night. I'll be part of the MRH crew, and you'll probably be able to spot me by the black polo and the camera fixed to my face.
Drop by and see us at the NTS - looks like our booth will be up front.

I plan on attending the Train show part on Friday. There are a few clinics I would love to check out on other days, but the website isn't very clear on a few things regarding the clinics. I assume you must be a NMRA member and/or be registered ($$$) to attend the clinics?
Never been to anything like this outside of normal "train shows" like Berea, Ohio etc..
Thanks Chris Ellis

Thanks Chris Ellis Chris, Yes, the clinics require NMRA membership along with convention registration. There is a one-day option for convention registration. It's $65/day. You can sign up for NMRA membership there at the convention. Here's a link with more info: NMRA Cleveland 2014The National Train Show which starts Friday does not require NMRA membership. Here's the info on it: 2014 Nat'l Train Show Info and Hours

It's OK, Rick, be honest. The NMRA is a pretty tough crowd and people have been fleeing the urban area since they heard the Train Zombies were coming to town... Actually I would prefer not to go to downtown Cleveland since the red light and speed camera's have proliferated like weeds in my flower beds! All those who attend be careful, do not exceed any posted or keep it under 25 if you are not sure (of course most cameras are where the speed limit goes from 35 to 25), and always stop behind the white line or you will get a ticket mailed to you!!!!! Rick J For anyone driving, here is a red light camera map for Ohio www.photoenforced.com/ohio.html

In London they at least mark the pavement. There the motive is to slow traffic. Here the motive is to generate fine dollars.

Maryland is the king of electronic speed traps. A good place not to be in. Maryland is too close to Baltimore. If I ran the B&O or Western Maryland, all trains would be westbounds.

Uhhhhhhh? ?? Baltimore is in the State of Maryland. I'm lost over and out...... I think he's making a joke about politics in Baltimore. The majority of Maryland, geographically, tends to be pretty conservative, while the city of Baltimore and the DC suburbs are considered to be very liberal, so that majority (population-wise) tends to drive politics in Maryland. Indeed. Maryland is beautiful, and Baltimore has not aged gracefully. Shame, as there are many architectural treasures there. Watching the decay of once proud cities is sad, and all too widespread. Any relics in Cleveland (railroad, naturally) should be photographed or videoed while extant. I regret never making the trip to capture the Huletts on Whiskey Island when younger. Nowadays I try to photograph everything, as it's all disappearing. Plus us folks from western PA enjoy ribbing Baltimore folks That being said, I do have one of the CMR station kits, that looks suspiciously like the Baltimore PRR station... www.custommodelrailroads.com/hocitystation.aspxIt's all good

There was a neat article in, I think, Railroad Model Craftsman that involved kitbashing that CMR station model into a background building. The model is a compressed version of the real one, so the author used the parts from the back side (the front of the real building) to expand the trackside facade to have the correct number of windows. Here's the real one for comparison: Riding Amtrak through East Baltimore at night is pretty disheartening, unfortunately - almost no lights in the houses, windows broken, burned out hollow shells of buildings, etc. Dave

Parts of the Pennsy and much of the B&O go through blighted areas in Pittsburgh. Mill towns that decayed when the steel mills and support companies left. Centuries from now, I expect only the largest stone bridges to survive. Baltimore's CMR does have some neat stuff, including the incredible bridge they did for Rod Stewart www.custommodelrailroads.com/cmr-train-bridge.htmlIf I hit the lottery, they would get a chunk of it for commissions to do PRR's Ft. Wayne and P&LE's Beaver bridges.

Heck, by the time you go through all the maps and current intel reports, it's gonna eat up all the time you could have saved running red lights...

Based on the way the bus drivers drive-red light cameras are a must-they'd make a killing off those guys!

Got an email back from CMR, a copy of the Beaver Bridge would be 7500 built (no kits)
If I hit the lottery... (what a showpiece though!)
