Curt, the Hostlers needed to see where they were going ! wouldn't want them fouling the main,or riding into turntable pits, would You now.? just rite them off as more useless Porthole Windows that EMD seemed so fond of. Spikre

I'll bet cabless GE U-Boats would have used periscopes. LOL... I'll have to properly equip my BN B30-7ABs... On second thought those were -7s, not U-boats... Other than the SCL road-mate units, which were not full height, did GE make any cabless U-boats?

only cables U anything GE would be the 2 B units of the UM set. and they were cab units, not hood units. now why doesn't Rapido do these units? Overland did them in Brass around 1980,so they sure could use a State Of The Art Plastic version now. sure that Erie and U.P. fans would buy plenty. Genesis could pass on these and not be so contriversal. Spikre

looks great to my eyes Bessemer Kid !! and they ran on Erie from 54 to early 59. then all rebuilt to 2000 HP for U.P.,late 59 to mid 63. one cab should have been assigned to a museum. Spikre

To each their own! Erie is neat with the clearances to run anything. Wonder what a turbine would look like in black and yellow?

have never seen any pics of ALCO/GE/U.P. 50 running on the Erie. it did run on NKP and NYC before heading west. it was also built with out the large top mounted headlite tube, had more of an Alco FA look to it originally. Erie/EL Clearances: were the Best in the East !! so why did they go with Low Profile Fans and lowered horns ? that was for Run-Thru Clearances on PC,B&M and N&W. CB&Q/BN had plenty of room,so it wasn't for them. EL/D&H 801-803 always had Tall Fans and Horns, they could go anywhere on EL. from that Locked Thread: what Honda sells for $12,000 today ? a big Retro Touring Motorcycle ? maybe a 250HP Outboard motor? an ATV ? or a Deluxe Lawn Tractor with plenty of Accessories ? but surely no Cars today.
