Welcome to Crater Lake, now mostly all together The big project of the week was building the crushed stone bins/loader. The conveyer leads back to the crusher in the quarry somewhere beyond the corner of the hill and the backdrop... There will be more detail, eventually, maybe some NBWs, although this thing looks like it could swallow a thousand of 'em and still look like mit's not enough -- if it wasn't two feet back and hard to see close enough to really miss them. As it is, I have to use my Grabber thing to carefully emplace the conveyer and its support tower. Hope y'all are having fun.

Looking good Mike! I had the chance to shoot a little outside again this week. Here's one of my Genesis GP-9s The E&B Mill Gon with some phone poles. Trailing a brand new GP40-2, a Big Sky Blue 4740 against Seattle's big blue sky. Here's some progress on the MoPac cylindrical hopper from last week, now in it's as delivered glossy Light Gray, showing the large Buzzsaw herald, a '60s classic! Now for the fun part, weathering it!

After five years, my PRR four track main line is complete. Five years -- I did it all myself and had to build all of the framing for the upper deck, and much of the upper deck (a single track branch line) is complete.

Tbird, Love that pole load. I may have to give one like that a try. Did you use liquid electrical tape for the "tar" at the bottom of the poles? BTW, that Rio Grande Geep looks great, too.
Jerry, Congrats on that milestone. Once all those locos all get trains behind them, it's be even more dynamic and dramatic.

You knew they were coming. So...let's chase an E8. 658 stops at Joliet. The train is buttoned up and 630 heads in. About time to head out. Leaving Joliet. Another day another train. Passing the depot at Tinley Park. John's work is simply second to none. Gotta get back to layout work some time soon. Enjoy!

Getting caught up on some layout work, I haven't posted any pictures since late last fall - here are a few and a link with a few more: Test fitting turnouts on the yard above staging: atlasrescueforum.proboards.com/post/59481/editNext will be to get track laid over the cork and up to the yard

As for me I did almost nothing this last week what with our normal club meeting on Saturday and operating at the West Shore club on Sunday, bowling a couple of nights and working on income tax returns. So all you get are some favorites of mine from the past! Penn Central SD45 and SD40 leading a mixed freight. Pennsy Centipedes on a test run. Pennsy Alco C628 & C630 leading an ore drag, similar to the drags out of Whiskey Island in Cleveland heading to the steel mills of West Virginia and Pennsylvania. Rick J

Tom, I'll bet that guy on the toilet started to set up a move at one end of that interlocking machine, started walking to the other end for the rest of it, then had to take a detour on his long walk back to the other end.
Heck, some guys might take a vacation in the middle of that long stroll. Those trains are gonna be late...
Jim, It may not be all shiny and spiffy, but it's the bones of something greater you have going there.

Actually, there have been ops sessions where no thunder bucket sound decoders were needed. The effects were only too real.

Looking good Mike! I had the chance to shoot a little outside again this week. Great photos, the GP looks great. Rick how did the Centipedes do? My single runs fairly well, my Demo pair a bit testy.

Tbird, Can you believe this weather we are having up here in the PNW. Winter....we don't need no stinkin winter!!! Your GN hopper looks great in the outdoors. But...speaking of winter.... Hey Mike!!! Just heard that Crater Lake just got 2 feet of snow in the past couple of days. I don't see no stinkin' snow anywhere. What happened? Has it melted already? Great job everyone! JL

Did a little work on another RCPE SD40-2 last night. Realized the cannon and co. cab/nose/sub base i had already assembled was the correct one needed. But I had to remove the bug eye marker light housings which led to the tamiya putty on the nose and then added to smooth the seams on the nose.

SNIP Hey Mike!!! Just heard that Crater Lake just got 2 feet of snow in the past couple of days. I don't see no stinkin' snow anywhere. What happened? Has it melted already? Great job everyone! JL JL, That's probably the Crater Lake in Oregon or wherever, not Crater Lake, Colorado. I'd bet the one in Colorado has more than 2 feet of snow, though, just no weather station. However, it's always sunny and 70 degrees in my version of Colorado, except when it's night...sometimes there's even snow, but if it gets obnoxious, I just lift it off the track.

Mike, Didn't know that their was a Crater Lake CO. I'll have to look that one up. Was the branch real and did the RG call it the Cascade branch? BTW... Don't tell the UP about how you remove snow from the row. They might get jealous ! Lol... Jl

Mark, nice job on that Atlas hopper, looks great, as do all of the cars you post. Tom, that is some impressive rooster of locomotives. I think we are all envious. John that is one incredible tower you are building now, right down to the interior and the interlocking machine. Mike, looks like Crater Lake is coming together. Nice stuff all. Bill

Did some more detailing to the interior of my tower. Now we know why the guys on the crapper. Must have been a bad anchovy. Got my etched windows installed too. Pizza and cigarettes. It's the 70's after all.

Sweet Mary Francis! That is gorgeous.
Today is the day that my prototype railroad passed into the ledgers of history.
RIP Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific.

It's the 70's after all. So how much of that interior stuff is scratch built and how much is commercially available? You wouldn't think scratch building interior details would be tough, but for some reason my attempts never turn out that well.

You wouldn't think scratch building interior details would be tough, but for some reason my attempts never turn out that well. The chairs, broom, bucket, sink and cabinet above are commercial products. Some stuff like the news paper, pizza box, cardboard boxes, cigarettes and clock are patterns found online for doll house stuff. I just resized them, printed and folded them.
