A little off topic... ATSFAN, What's up with Chambers Bay? All week long I have been hearing all the hype about how beautiful the course was and the wonderful views. I know we haven't had much rain lately, but jeez... that place looks like it was dug out of a gravel pit. The greens aren't green. I looked hard to find a green blade of grass anywhere. They would have been better off coming down here to Pumpkin Ridge. Pebble Beach...my favorite. JL

PS.. Jason's first steam locomotive. A Royal Hudson...make mine Southern. Remember, the shadow doesn't have to match what's underneath. JL

Jason, You can't let this stuff bother you, man. If you do, they win.
It's the internet. Someone will always complain about anything...anything at all. The only time to pay attention to complaints is when you either agree with them (see: LRC coach trucks), or if they are in large numbers. But if we're talking small numbers, then ignore them, especially when you know you're right. And in this case, not only are you right, but it's your money! It shouldn't matter if you spend it on a 1:1 passenger car or at your local bar. As long as you make a product people want, do whatever the heck you want with the profits and have fun doing it.
As for the idea of model railroaders not liking real (modern) trains like Amtrak and VIA, a lot of that is politics and nostalgia. I won't get into the politics, but the nostalgia is based on them being fans of a Amtrak/VIA predecessor and they don't like what Amtrak/VIA has done to their favorite passenger lines/trains. Instead of blaming their favorite Class I, they'd rather blame Amtrak/VIA. So you will find many modelers of the 1970's here, for example, yet few of them own Amtrak equipment.

Please, no E8! I spent too much time getting all the parts together to do my definitive Highlinerized BLI E8s... At least give me the satisfaction of finishing mine before releasing a better model. On that note, I think I'll start one of my Three Brothers Budd Bilevel car kits! Jason's E8 would be almost more than I could hope for. Particularly if the model can be built like a Highliners F unit kit...

An E8 would be just great! I sold off my P2K models after reading posts here about all the issues that need to be corrected. And the Highliner/BLI hybrid project is just too far beyond my modeling skill set to pull off with good results. People like Onequicknova and others have made some outstanding models, so it can be done, just not by me. Just thinking of all the roads and variations on the E8 that Rapido “could” offer is very tantalizing. We know they’re watching the model forums, so maybe they’ve seen that the market can handle a top notch E8.
This will be an interesting reveal. Mark

Yeah Jason, Just take it from Big Al Mayo - The most INFAMOUS Model railroader around! I get hate messages WEEKLY via Facebook, Forums, my email and mostly Youtube! I actually do not mind it because it only means the people are closely watching what I do and even watching all of my videos! My motto is 'Haters are just fans in disguise.' I let their criticizing and hating roll right off. P.S. To me, all passenger trains suck by the way and that includes VIA, Amtrak, Metra etc etc. So if you want to spend your money on a wack Passenger car then that is all good. LOL. I sometimes spend my profits on model trains that I end up not liking so I cut them up on a Dewalt Compound Miter Saw, run them over, throw them on the layout, and other things I have not thought of YET!! Oh yeah I also spend my money on 20" rims, Massive amounts of Candy, Toys from the 1980's, Brass SD70ACe & SD70Ms, Camera items and ANYTHING related to Michael Jackson!!

Blender is a GOOD one! The Real train running over a model train is not good because I have that skin color that can easily classify me as a "Terrorist" standing to close to the tracks as I put something on the rails and start recording (SCARY!). 'Haters are just fans in disguise'

Someone beat you to the blender:
What about a wood chipper? It's like a blender that had multiple roid rages
It could be a GMD F-unit

After looking at this more carefully, I'd be more inclined to go with a large scale F unit or the like. Maybe S gauge, or O guage. Could be garden scale ! I'm thinking an HO E8, while an excellent choice, would be too mainstream, and not fitting with the text.

He could certainly be referring to scale.

It looks like an SD40-2. Good news and Rapido will sell many of them I don't know about that. SD40-2's are all over the place. Rapido is the only manufacturer that doesn't make them, lol. I bet its going to be something unique that hasn't been done before at Rapido's level of detailthat will have a limited market. F3 maybe?

I've been enjoying the comments, but I can't say much for fear of giving anything away.
I can tell you we are looking into some form of train ride as part of the launch, but I won't have confirmation of that until next week at the earliest. Full details will be in the next newsletter.
