I'd love to say that it's a total fantasy model. And I'm sure it is. BUT, maybe someone can find a prototype. Tried the Brown Book--nuthin'.
I sure couldn't.
53 bids! I wonder if any are real. It's not that well made, compared to current standards. Looks like it might have been made in the '60's.
It is kinda cute. I might pop $40 for it.

Sure looks like a Bachmann Spectrum box that it's sitting on.

Looking at it, my guess is someone took a vintage metal Mantua HO baggage car and spliced the cab of an HO Burlington Zephyr locomotive on to it. The front truck is from a 70s production E-unit and the rear truck is a mystery to me. The B-unit also looks like it was made from a Mantua (or similar metal) passenger car. That is a Bachmann Spectrum box, as pointed out by JonKlein. Of course, someone will buy this model.
Looks like a nice paint and decaling job. Whoever did this deserves a high-five for his freelancing imagination!

Exactly, only it's just a resemblance. Silver Charger has been done in brass, but this is not it. The nose is too sloped, the roof is wrong, the under body is wrong, etc. that rear truck appears to be a flexicoil truck. The rear truck on Silver Charger was a regular unpowered passenger car truck. Strange whatever it is.

That is what I call an abortion. Sorry build quality, no prototype, and thick paint equals massive fail. And $605.00??? I would LOVE to meet the idiot that would pay that kind of $$$ for that turd as I have a really nice bridge to sell him...

Now I just forget the name of the website that allows you to "Google" the info.... Can someone help me with this? Spikre? Google won't help one bit with this model genius, both units of the pair are total kitbashes based on baggage cars, Athearn drives, and someone's shovel-nosed front, painted in a complete fantasy scheme. Try to add something to the conversation next time Al, instead of just acting like a pompous jerk towards someone with a valid question. The 4-axle trucks look like Athearn SW7 style trucks with someone's aftermarket Flexicoils (those are definitely not the plastic Athearn ones). Chassis components from an Athearn SW7 are also visible, spliced into the underbody. Probably a product of its day, when Athearn BB units were cheap and plentiful for kitbashing. The front unpowered E-unit truck is an oddball, not sure who made dummy A1A trucks tooled like that (Rivarossi maybe?). Lettering-wise, someone probably slapped a bunch of EMD/Oakway SD60 Microscale decals on it.

EMD was created January 1, 1941 from EMC. The lettering on the model would thus imply the prototype was built after that date. The FT was already in production.
I leave it to you to think on these facts.
It's still kinda cute--not bad, sorta, for what it is.

this reminds me of "Stump The Band" from Johnny Carson. front Truck; could be Dummy Rivarossi,or IHC Yugo Copy,or Tyco E7 unpowered truck. Rear Truck : Athearn BB with what look like Trackside Parts Flexi-Coil Cast Soft Metal Sideframes. after that I'm Stumped Ed or Doc !! Trackside also had Cast Metal "Blunt" side frames to use with the Cary S-2 bodies. Spikre

Well, some idiot and his money are gonna part ways....... There's a couple of novice bidders involved, can't understand people who bid over and over again, only increasing the price a few dollars each time. Because ebay now anonymizes the bidders, makes it harder to spot shill bidding when that occurs too...

There's a couple of novice bidders involved, can't understand people who bid over and over again, only increasing the price a few dollars each time. Because ebay now anonymizes the bidders, makes it harder to spot shill bidding when that occurs too... I have noticed that many items have a ghost type bidder that will drive up the price. It is probably a friend or helper to drive up the price. This looks like a joke and I hope the buyer knows that. We had this happen at a regular estate auction in Los Angeles many years ago and I let the other person have the bronze statue. The approached me as I was leaving and said the other bidder had left and I could have it. Right!!! We noticed that lady was at some of their other auction sales and was doing this increase prices. I believe it can still work on ebay since there is no way of verifying when someone skips out if they decide not to purchase an item. I don't use paypal and if I don't give them a credit card or check, no sale is finalized. A user doing this would have to justify the back out, but it happens. Larry

Back when I frequented e-bay, I found that using Bidnapper (or the like) really helped eliminate psychological manipulation. I picked my max bid. And in a fraction of the last second, I won or not. If I won with my bid or lower, I shoulda been happy. And usually was. If I lost out, and I was sad, I guess I shoulda submitted a larger bid. If I lost out and accepted it, then my bid was a good number.
But it certainly gets ya thinkin' when a rarey comes on.

I noticed on an Ebay auction with zero bids. I bid the minimum, and was immediately outbid. I checked, and my bid was the only one. Since that time, I've stuck with "buy it now", IF I liked the price. Other than that, I'm not playing that game.

Last year, I picked up a couple of nice brass steam locos that way. Larry

Well, I had been looking of the old LBF 8200 Cft wood chip hoppers in NS livery. Some one put two on auction and i bid way high as I was going to be away when this ended. Well I was outbid at over $200 for those two cars. Wish I could have seen that person's face when the got the YOU WON! email.
As a couple have said I try to stick to the Buy it Now! if the price is agreeable.

Nobody remembers Model Railroader doing an article on kitbashing a Zephyr from mostly Athearn parts? Cut up streamliner shells for most of it, F7 upper nose for the cab top, etc.. I think the nose itself was scratchbuilt but they gave you templates or something to go on.
I have one here I bought cheap somewhere for the Central Valley trucks on it, and then by dad saw it and decided he liked it, even though it was a crappy build. Go figure.
The dummy E unit truck is probably Hobbytown.

the dummy E Truck is Plastic,so that leaves AHM/Rivarossi,IHC/Yugo, or Tyco. think all the Model Power E trucks had Gear Boxes, even if they went under Non Powered locos. look at thye left side of the truck,it has a small bracket for a coupkler, likely a long shank Horn Hook. AHM/Rivarossi would have their initials on a casting that large, but cant recall where it would be ? Hobbytown is a large metal gearbox that the sideframes-- EMD or Alco GSC would be screwed onto, this isn't one of them. maybe Whoever Buys this will tell us the Parts Used. it isn't the MR Zypher bash, but could have been Inspired by that article ? like maybe 20 or more later ?
