They just popped up on Klein's website. I'm really glad I checked this afternoon, because several are already sold out (not sure if Bowser has more left).
I broke down and ordered one Dual Flags unit with sound. This will be only my second sound-equipped model - I decided to bite the bullet because of the additional marker lights in the cab. I've always loved that paint scheme. I may pick up another CP unit on a future run - I'd like to have one of the plain or Multimark units, but my budget is a little tight these days. Can't wait to see it!

Not sure what data base feed and logic they are using but it seems odd. I am on the fence with these. I sure wish Bowser would make them in USA versions.

Interesting they don't show up searching under Bowser, CP, SD40-2 etc. If you manually look up HO engines, they do. Yeah, I'm not sure how their website works, but the search function doesn't seem to work for the first couple days after they post new items. Almost like they need to tag the items with categories and don't get around to doing that immediately. I use this as my bookmark for Klein's: www.modeltrainstuff.com/HO-Scale-s/2.htmThat's the link that the left side menu takes you to if you select HO Scale trains. Since it displays the most recently added items first, I just leave the page open on my phone and refresh it once a day when I'm waiting for something new to show up. Dave

Dave Most likely they just sell out in 11 minutes anyway and don't worry about it. Still one would think something which has "Bowser" in the title when you do find it would show up when you search "Bowser". I notice there are lots of Intermountain units available. No surprise sadly. I won't buy them with their motors and other problems.

Otter Valley has the sound versions for $304.00 Cdn. Wahoo!! One of the best plastic units I have ever seen. Bowser is completely sold out. We still have a wide selection remaining, however some SKU's are fully sold out.

The way these appear to be flying off the shelves, I'm wondering if there won't be a remake of some of the more popular numbers, as they did with some of the C630M schemes.

I also wonder/guess/think production this time might be pretty limited, thus just meeting demand. So the "flying" part may be just supply meeting immediate demand. There isn't much else to do with Canadian SD40-2 tooling except, re run Canadian SD40-2's

Shameless plug for my local shop ....
Action Hobbies Kingsville started getting their order this past Friday with the balance showing up this week. Out of 140 units, only about half are pre-sold. $284.99 CDN sound and $184.99 CDN non-sound.

This is what happens when people take a wait-and-see approach to buying, and refuse to pre-order due to whatever personal lack of trust issue they might have. There were posts on these forums where people expressed they would not buy them until they were out and available to be seen/tried/tasted. Bowser routinely builds an undisclosed-to-anyone "extra" percentage into their production runs, to cover those who do not place pre-orders and to assure they have a modest quantity of items for stock. Their percentage is greater than some other manufacturers. Now, as to whether any particular dealers attempted to "corner the market" by quickly obtaining whatever uncommitted stock Bowser may have had, that I cannot say. I can say that does sometimes happen in the train business.

Hello McFly! CP owned hundreds of the things, Bowser can just pick new numbers every time they rerun them. They'll never run out! They'll probably have to repeat numbers for the smaller fleets like Algoma Central and Ontario Northland, but that's more out of necessity due to number limitations.

Ferro kid may be referring to the beautiful red, white, blue and silver BCR C-630M's (actually C-630I, a unique interim model designation) of which there only ever were 4 units, so between sound and non-sound, Bowser ended up re-running all the road numbers, because they were indeed HOT.

Yes, exactly. I thought they had re-run some other paint schemes as well, but the only ones indicated as a "remake" on their website are the red, white, blue, and silver BCRs: www.bowser-trains.com/history/milwc630mlocohistory.html

Well, if Bowser wants to sell any more GMD SD40-2 models in DME paint after this run, they're either going to have to re-run or make foobies because there's only the one.

Looks great. Probably sounds better in person. I sure wish we has this good in ATSF. We get it, you want a premium brand SD40-2. But do you really have to mention it in every thread?!
A premium SD40-2 probably won't happen in the near future, so until then buy the Bowser unit and add Cannon parts, get an Athearn or Kato unit, or build one from scratch, but please belay these requests and forward them to whichever manufacturer you wish to build them.

I got to see and play with some of these finally in person. Easily the best SD40-2 model on the market. LokSound is excellent. Interesting packaging. Minimal instructions. And the box is minimal compared to MTH or Athearn. Also the engine is screwed in from the bottom. If you want to store the engine back in the box you need to re attach the screws to the bottom or it will flop around.
I ended up with a CP Red Multi Mark version. I did see one of these back in the day in Barstow, so I can justify it in my head. If cash was no object it would scary.
Hats off to Lee English and Bowser.
PS: They run well and the motor seems fine.

One of the best models to date. Beautifully detailed. Sampled one unit pulling 40 weighted cars with no problem. Lighting package is awesome and paint and details are crisp. Demand has been strong and Bowser is completely sold out. Lorne James, Otter Valley Railroad www.ovrtrains.com
