Easily the best SD40-2 model on the market. Definitely! I got my Dual Flags unit in the mail yesterday, but I barely had the chance to open it up and look at it. I'll try to take photos soon to share. It has details I didn't even know were on these units, such as the spare knuckles on the deck, the loop handhold on the handrail stanchion next to the drop step, and some kind of antenna(?) mounted to the edge of the roof by the radiator fans. Really fantastic, unit-specific detailing. The one minor complaint is the fan grills, which are a little heavy compared to Athearn or Cannon, and the grill on the fan under the winterization hatch, which I believe shouldn't have a grill at all. I can fix those things if I decide it's important enough, and it is still an incredible model. I'll have to save up for a future run to get a Multimark and hopefully a plain red unit eventually. Dave

Started out with getting the two units I really wanted - BCR 758 two-tone green and ONR 1732 chevron.
Both arrived with a bit of shipping damage, despite the screw-in packaging. The BCR unit had the long hood pop out of the frame near the rear porch. Fairly easy fix, and it was fine afterwards. The ONR had the entire rear porch railing assembly loose, as well as both snow shields, all-weather window, and a long brass wire (piping?) that I still haven't figured out the origin of. Again - all very easy fixes with a bit of glue. Also, the ONR unit appears to only have the top headlight LED on the long hood functioning. The bottom is always off. Will have to crack it open and take a look at some point to see if wiring got knocked loose. These must've seen some seriously rough handling in shipping.
In any case - both units ran and sounded great. I'm pretty happy with them. Both were a bit slow on the top end straight out of the box, but with a bit of break-in they got better. Both were approaching high 50s mph. With 65mph max limit of the prototype, I'm sure that with a bit more of break in, they'll get close to that.
Overall - I'm very happy with the models. So much so, that I ended up ordering a CP 5721 to repatch into one of the 10 Ontario Hydro CN units.

The rear porch on mine is ever so slightly non level upwards. I noticed this on several. Examination does no show any reason why it is so.

The rear porch on mine is ever so slightly non level upwards. I noticed this on several. Examination does no show any reason why it is so. Rear of the long hood can separate slightly from the deck. Apply gentle pressure from above on the long hood and from below on the deck with a non-sharp tool. Should help snap the long hood back in and make the deck level.
