Hi guys, I picked up this caboose cheap off Ebay. When the model arrived in the mail the Ends had been destroyed so I built new and cages with the channel reinforcement bars and all the grab irons are wire and I made my own brake wheel with chains and such. Model is painted with scalecoat PC green from the historical society and the decals are from Microscale - Penn Central Caboose set. It has window etchings from Wright track (but they were originally made by a guy in Tennessee Burrl Rice. I used a set of Run-8 for the window acrylic glass. This caboose will only get a tiny bit of weathering, as I want to have a shiny repaint model to go with my others which are pretty grimy. Brian

Cool Brian, that brake wheel linkage... is that a Tony Sisson etch part? Here is my pic for today and proud of it. I bought these locos 4-13-12 and the project is complete now 4-24-16. 4 yrs off and on to get these pictures.

Fantastic shots Scotty! Tough act to follow! Some first generation Rio Grande EMD's under cloudy skies, some are railroad repaints, the four stripe unit is still in "as delivered" colors. Cheers, Mark

Mr. SoCal, Good spotting, I had forgotten about using them...Yes they are! I bought a fret or 2 of them from Tony at the Savanna RPM meet last year. Hard to pass up such nice parts when they are right there in front of your face, knowing how nice it is to have them when you want them. Regards, Brian Cool Brian, that brake wheel linkage... is that a Tony Sisson etch part?

Brian, Love your PC caboose. Tony, The brakeman in the wifebeater looks like he's already thirsty for that first beer after work. Scotty, You should turn those into MRH for their "It really is a model" pic series. Tbird, A dirty old Rio Grande F-unit always makes my day. A little narrowgauge steam, as the eastbound San Juan waits for a green board to leave Silverton. Finished up the new crew lounge. Visiting crews are anticipated before and after the NMRA national in Indy on July 2,3 and 10. If you're interested, registered convention attendees can sign up for the Silverton Union RR/D&RGW Four Corners Division sessions about 3/4 way down the page here. www.nmra2016.org/#!opsig/c1ygl The times are listed as "TBD" right now, but this will soon be updated to show 3pm starting times for all three dates. Come on by.

I tend to do some of my hobby time on Mondays so usually out of sync with Sunday photo fun but here is an update on the layout. A couple more photo's in the layout progress thread in the project archives: Basically there was a section of bench-work that bridges the two sides of the room and yes, creates an evil duck-under. I put it back in-place last month and have been filling in the scenery sub-base there between the two ends on that side of the layout. The white area is the basis for a riverbend. Following Rob Spangler's blog, I've coated the riverbed surface with drywall mud and sanded it smooth. I'm building up the river banks right now and will need to get some appropriate acrylic paint to give it color. I like the effects Rob's glossy Modge Podge method gives so plan on trying that. The cardboard will get a layer of plaster cloth.
