Good Sunday afternoon to all the Forum Folks.
Hope that everyone has managed to get some layout, workbench or train time in this weekend. A nice start to our day, but like yesterday, the heat & humidity are arriving shortly. Managed to get the yard mowed and then again had to run the lawn sweeper over it to get up the wet, clumply, clippings. I did get to the trains for just a short bit, yesterday. I hope to spend a bit more time out there today, but 3 of my 4 sound equipped MP-15DC's are now sidelined, until I can figure out what their surging problem is. Terry has given me a suggestion of replacing the motor brushes. That means an order to Atlas parts dept. if I can get some free time at work tomorrow. Anyone have any special plans for the week?

Mike I did some train watching over Friday and the weekend, but nothing too special came my way. This coming week and the following week is in preparation for the Union Pacific 844 to come west over Donner to the Sacramento CSRM for display at the 150 anniversary celbration in Sacramento. They have many display diesels and steam along with the Union Pacific 844 for two days in Old Town. It should be interesting, but the great event is watching the locomotive move over Donner on the 27th. We have checked out several locations from the Nevada state line to Roseville so it should be a fun day for many of us locals and probably some not so local! I will post some pictures after that weekend. Larry

Monday morning was a surprise for me as I found out the Circus train was going east over Donner today. I caught it in Rocklin in the early morning light. The train is 5700' long with sixty five cars and 278 axles including the three diesels. I always enjoy the move from Stockton Ca to Salt lake City because they come right by my location every two years. Larry

Been a while since I've had the time to post. Between being VERY shorthanded for a few days this week, due to just the Capt. & I being available to work and having to get to the range to qualify and calls, plus admin work, wellllllll.......... there just wasn't enough of me to go around. Haven't done anything with the trains since Saturday or Sunday. Up until late last night, I was going to be working tomorrow. Still on call for the weekend, but at least LD, Adam & Nicole will be able to take me to breakfast in the morning for my birthday. Sure hope next week is better......

Sure hope next week is better...... only 5 more Mondays to go until next weekend... ;D I did see something amusing, after a fashion, on the way to work. One of our local freeways has a speed limit of 45 mph, and I, being smarter than plankton, tend to obey that limit when following a police cruiser. Other drivers, not so much... One of those drivers became annoyed when following me in my rather large pickup truck.he couldn't see around me, and couldn't see the marked car in the lane next to me, just in front of me. After trying his best at intimidating me into going faster, he whipped into the other lane, punched the gas, and passed me in the right lane. He was so busy giving me the evil eye, he didn't notice a Crown Vic occupying the same spot until he unceremoniously plowed into the back of it. I handed my business card to the occupant of said Crown Vic, and continued to work.I told him to give me a call if anybody had any questions. Somehow, I don't think I will hear from him.

Today was Thomas Day at the local railroad museum across the street from my LHS. Calling it a "zoo" would be too mild. I got what I came for, and left ASAP. Hundreds of screaming kids may be good for the museum's pocketbook, but I'll pass.

Terry.... ;D LOLOLOL ;D That story is just too funny and sadly, far too true, too often! In my time here, I've used an unmarked Taurus and now an unmarked Ford Escape. It's quite amazing the silly things people do and then look at me in big eyed wonder when I pull 'em for such *#@% driving behavior. While we were at Lowe's in Clinton, NC today, we ran across something similar. They were having some sort of wood building project for kids in the lumber aisle. I was only after a 4"x4" post in that section. We skeedadled pretty quick!! Been a very nice day, though it did get warmish and humid a bit after noon. Had a good morning when LD, Adam & Nicole took me out for breakfast for my birthday. Nicole gave me some Woodland Scenics Autumn trees and the 40's police shootout scene from Woodland Scenics. She had to drive over to a hobby shop I didn't know existed, over in Fayetteville, NC to get them. It's a bit over an hours drive from here. She gave me the place's business card. Said she surprised the employee when he asked what she might be looking for. Told him she was wanting to get some things in HO scale for her dad and he said, I guess you do know what you want. I had to laugh about that. She, as well as LD, Adam & Chris are well familiar with my trains. We picked up some seasonal stuff for the yard and LD & I just finished putting it all out. Pumpkins, multi-colored "gourds"(?), Indian corn, straw bales and potted mums. Also had to put up a couple of 4"x4"x4' posts for LD to put up 2 new birdhouses she picked up Friday evening. Hope that everyone had a good day.

I got out on Donner Pass for a few minutes to catch four new Gevo's on their first trip on the Union Pacific. They are as clean as any unit can be having traveled almost 2000 miles from Chi Town G2 the last two days. Larry

I seem to have the brown spotlight shining on me, at least as far as electronics go. Today, my iPad let me know about the big update. Like a moron, I Clicked "OK". If I ever do that again, y'all have my permission to shoot me. When the update completed, none of the apps would work. Not one. I tried restoring it, and all I got for my trouble was an error message, and an iPad that was turned into a brick.
So... I put it back in its box, since it is only a couple of months old, and took it back to exchange for a new one. I got the upgraded version, and if you think I am going to update this one, you are crazier than I am...
