If you guys are interested be sure to join Chris Palomarez of Athearn and I at my layout live at www.facebook.com/hoscaleproductreviews July 31st at 7pm Central for a very special HO Scale locomotive announcement. Athearn and TrainWorld will also be broadcasting live on Facebook at the same time so we'll have a few angles to choose from.

If it's not an SDL39, it's not special.

Sure would be nice to see a Genesis GP30 come out! But if Athearn doesn't do it, I'll take a GP30 from ScaleTrains.

How about Athearn digging very deep into the past and upgrading and issuing new versions of the MDC Harriman steam locomotives (preferably as kits and they will need improvement over any RTR version built by Horizon/Athearn.)

I heard they were sick of people complaining about their GE locomotives coming with incandescent bulbs, so they're going to get rid of them and release a GE incandescent bulb. Available at Lowes and Home Depot. (kidding)

I'm placing my bets on the SD60e that was teased earlier.

NS SD60E is my bet as well. Athearn did let the cat out of the bag with that teaser. Hopefully standard cab and 3 piece window are included. Only question is how far behind will Scaletrains be from announcing theirs. That's the way the hobby works isn't it?

Available at Lowes and Home Depot. (kidding) There's a story about the U34CH's arrived in NJ Transit back when.. During the period when some of the reliability issues were common one of the NJT's conductors was heard commenting that GE should have stuck to making light bulbs...

Genesis SD60E, details on Athearn website tomorrow, many detail variations. Initially 3(?) normal roadnumbers plus the 911 unit I believe.
Question asked, answer is the normal/previous SD60 remains in the RTR line for now.

2nd Gen.GE??? ....So I decided to bring this topic up again, so here we go. Great for all the new latest and greatest EMD releases, but SO What is it with model manufactures continuing to ignore High Level model 2nd Generation GE units? with correct cab roof profiles? U-23-B, U-30-C, U-33-C, U-34-CH, U-36-C, etc, etc. At least Bowser has hit a home run with there latest U-25-B

That was something that Athearn was saying 15-20 years ago. Since then, the -9, AC, the ex-Tower 55 thingy, so they have been doing GEs. A U series might not fly, they would do well with a B23 or B30-7.
