Godd morning, and happy Sunday. Not a whole lot going on in the train room this week, I spentthis week's train money ( my allowance) on two large plastic totes of CDs. One of our local DJs has retired, and I bought his CD collection (at least a part of it). I expect to be loading them into my computer to put in my iPod for quite a while. Other than that, I'm just trying to stay warm. 30+ years in South Florida has gotten me used to warmer temps, even after several years away from the area, 45 degrees is still cold to me. Basically the opposite effect as our Alaskan moderator, he wold probably melt at 95 degree, 99% humidity.

Good Morning Terry and the rest of the Forum Folks. It didn't get that chilly down here last night. It's supposed to get to 79F today and a bit warmer tomorrow with chances of rain. Managed to get all the urgent/important stuff finished off yesterday. Walked to the post office yesterday morning and on my way back, stopped at the PD to do time cards, so I won't have that to deal with on Monday. I did get out back for a bit last night, but plan on going out for a while today. Terry, I've now been in this area for just over 31 years. That's a LOT of CD's!! Since he was a DJ, I'm guessing he has a wide variety of music. It almost sounds as if you have a good winter project ahead of you! Hope everyone has a good week.

The weather is good in California, at least for now. We will be in the hight seventies this week with a few low eighties so I cannot complain. I received the Trak Works interior Kit for the Walthers Hi Level Lounge car on Friday and started to read the instructions so I could begin the work. It is on a post under HO and El Cap Lounge car and pictures are posted to show the kit. It is very intensive so my work is laid out for me as I want the lounge car with all of its window in the roof to be a showpiece of the train. First order will be to gather the proper color paints and get started on the interior of the car. This is my first project for some time so I am going to be busy and hopefully happy with the results! So much of our hobby now is RTR and that does not sharpen any of our skills or lack of them. I have more than one lounge cars and two kits so one at least should be finished some day. Take a look at the Kit and tell me what you think. The picture below is the kit laid out and the details are amazing. All of those parts need to cut out and inserted into one lounge car interior! That's a LOT of CD's!! Since he was a DJ, I'm guessing he has a wide variety of music. It almost sounds as if you have a good winter project ahead of you! I stopped counting at 822. There is still half a tote not counted, and I've managed to load 140 into my computer so far. That was 8 hours yesterday, and 9 hours so far today. I think I'll ration myself to, say, 20 per evening to put in the computer. Otherwise, I'll probably get so burned out, I'll never get them all done. Many of them are very well used, some like new, but so far, I only have one that was unreadable. That one was, of course, one I really would have liked. A live version of The Doors early songs.

Good Evening to all the Forum Folks.
Today was just non-stop activity, from the time I went on duty at 0630, till I finally got off at 1700!! Between calls for service, admin tasks, dealing with the radio guy about our new, narrow banded VHF radios, re-programming the mobile and handheld radios to meet the new US Gov't narrow band requirements, giving a class to our public works people on their new handheld radios and just general all around stuff, it's been a day. Added to that, I had my truck looked over by my trusted mechanic to make sure all would be well for our upcoming trip to Illinois. Not yet sure what the final cost will be, but..... I had to get one new tire, due to the front end being out of alignment, wearing the tread very badly on the inside of the left front tire. It needs a front end alingment, but that can't be done until the new, left front wheel bearing and tire is replaced. It should be done and ready for me by the time I get off at noon tomorrow, so we can get our pre-trip and household shopping taken care of. I'm guessing at least $900 to $1,000 for everything before it's all said and done. That and a turn signal bulb had to be replaced on LD's car today. We just had the relay to her radiator fan replaced less than a week and a half ago!! At least I did see/hear CSX at one point late this afternoon. I believe I saw 5 locos making a light engine movement, headed north, after making a delivery of loads to either the feed mill or the soybean transfer facility just south of us. Tomorrow will be our 4th wedding anniversary, but we'll not actually celebrate it until one day next week, while in Illinois. We hope to go to dinner at a very nice Tuscanny restaurant we visited last year in the town the hotel we stayed in was located, Manteno, Ill. It's about 15 to 20 minutes from where my parents live. If I don't check in till very late Saturday night or sometime on Sunday, it's because of all the trip preparations and/or actually being on the road.
Hope that everyone has had a good day.

Very nice work on those cars, Larry. Passenger car interiors seem to be "underappreciated".
Yours & Karl's are good examples to emulate.
