Finally the second of the two Atlas/Branchline NRUC boxcars is finished. The St Lawrence car was built later than the Pickens so weathered a bit less. Nothing exciting nor creative on this model.

Nice package car. Did one ages ago from the Walthers model, but haven't added the Plano kit to it yet. Here's some of my contribution for the week. Kaslo M420A and M420B, on their way to becoming BCOL green and ready for primer. They ride on Atlas U23B chassis, which requires scratchbuilding most of the below-frame detail.

Here is my Walthers Dairy Queen model. Walthers did a good job on it and I scribed the roof to represent a tarred roof. I also added the DQ posters by printing them out (they are accurate for my mid '70's rr) on label paper, cutting them out, and attaching them to the windows. Scene is not completed as the cars need some weathering still needs some customers.

Great stuff everyone!
The UPS truck is really well done. I didn't even catch the open doors and interior on my first look. That's how you typically see them driving around, excellent!!

Really nice stuff this week. Has been to cold for me to do much for several weeks.
SlowFreight, I really like that M420. I have one to do in DL paint. I am working on decals right now for DL. I would really like to see more on how you did the chassis, I was not happy with my first attempt and am interested in ideas on the U23 chassis mods.

John the UPS van is great looking but it needs the windshield wipers on it. It looks like a great candidate for LED lighting of all running lights too.

I based most of it on the work in this thread, where somebody scratchbuilt frames for his CN M420s: dieseldetailer.proboards.com/thread/9370/cn-m420-hr412-madnessI wanted to use the Atlas frame, and because of the way it was cast I built a shallower frame but had to add something to fill all the voids. My go-to is 1/8" Evergreen C channel, which I CA'd in place. The rest of the detail was cut in to match photos using more strip styrene.

Slowfreight,
Thanks for the info! I have read that thread many times. In fact the guy that did that has cast several parts for me for ALCO's. He suddenly disappeared, I emailed with a question on a new ALCO that arrived on the DL(Delaware Lackawanna) last year and have yet to get an answer. Your work has inspired m e to bring that model back to my bench.

I have 2 M420's and 1 HR412 yet to build. I was going to use the U23B chassis but after finding the trend on diesel detailer I decided I will scratch build the frame and cast it in resin, I'll drop in a couple stainless steel rods for stiffness. I recently found an HR412 thats out of service looks like its been sitting in weeds for quite some time. I will try to get some closeup pictures and measurements of the frame, just have yo wait for some warmer weather.

Artur,
If I can find them I have measurements from the x-BC M420 now DL2045. You can count me in on one of those frames for the M420, taking to account you don't mind casting one for me. I would also like to refit my CN Dash9 with one of your fuel tanks if possible.

If you have the measurements that be great I still want to go and get field measurements of the fuel tank mountings and other areas associated with the frame. PM me about the fuel tank.

Wow...that's great to see so much interest in getting these M420s done right. Since they're not a key model for me, I was more about getting 'em done. I had to take a step backwards because there's a tank thing that about 7 of 8 A units had, and I finally broke down and built it this week. Mine won't be rivet-counting units like some of my other projects, but I can't leave off a visually obvious feature.
