Every show I sell a couple of MDC or Athearn kits and a couple of Accurail kits.
It just depends on what it is, some are more in demand than others. I sold two Athearn 3-dome tanks last Sunday and I probably could have sold him 3 or 4 more if I'd had them. I found an assembled one later on and I'm setting it aside for him.
I've packed kits before, when I worked for a hobby shop here he had a pile of E&C or somebody's passenger car kits just loose sprues in a box, I bagged them up into individual pieces for the cost of giving me one kit. It's not that big a deal to do on blue-box level stuff. I can see where it might be a pain on a highly detailed diesel.

For the record, I actually did build a fleet of Intermountain reefers and box cars years ago, and I hated every minute of it. I did some assembly line style to complete several at a time. There are so many parts that I could not get the time below 2.5 hours per car, and then when I was done I was not so happy with the glue marks.
Then I started buying them rtr and never looked back. The Intermountain kits ruined me for building any more.
I have detailed a few Kato SD38-2 and SD-40 units since, but that is all. No mas.

Every show I sell a couple of MDC or Athearn kits and a couple of Accurail kits. I still buy the odd Accurail kit if it is a model that's a fairly close match to a real freight car. A few are. Or the faculties. You don't have room for a small desk? I live in European apartment. My work bench a 34" wide desk from Ikea that cost me $60. My "spray booth" is a cheap foldable unit off ebay that is the size of desktop computer. I do understand not wanting to do it...As it takes time... Also, people forget that the US Dollar has dropped about 20% in the last year against many other currencies. I use Euros daily. Last year, it was 1.05 Euro to the Dollar... This month, its roughly 1.25..

Last year, it was 1.05 Euro to the Dollar... This month, its roughly 1.25.. And the Canadian Dollar isn't much better. It used to be on par a few years ago (which was great for buying models from US sellers on eBay, and new release pricing was all at par). Now it's only worth $0.78 and companies like Rapido have to have separate US and CAD pricing, and some hobby shops *in Canada* are now showing future releases in USD instead of CAD! (makes it easier to compare with the cheaper US e-tailers though). There was a big discussion about this a while back on one of the Canadian facebook model groups as those (ex-Branchline) Atlas Trainman 40' boxcar kits that were selling for $14 CAD a few years ago were now retailing for $30 CAD by some retailers. But...still better than when the dollar was at $0.68 US a few years back. We've actually already hit $400 (CAD) for DCC/Sound locos. The latest Bowser SD40-2's were going for as much at those outlets selling MSRP (and at certain Canadian hobby shops, street price means MSRP). If NAFTA goes bye-bye and everything gets hit with tariffs, that won't be good for either side of the border in terms of Rapido selling US models, or Canadians buying from US retailers like Bowser who have a lot of their future releases depending on Canadian sales.
