What Jum said, finish that DD35 and we will see one from some manufacturer! Managed to get some work done and continued on with other projects. An old MDC Railbox style Gon I picked up in a grabbag of car kits, I removed the cast on grabs and replaced them with wire grabs. Painted the car with Scalecoat II Black and lettered with Herald King Decals (the only ones that sort of fit that car). Prototype was built in 1980 for general service, I stuck in a Duha Rusted Pipe load to finish it off. Second ACY Boxcar I have done, cut down a 7' Plug to 6' to match the prototype and pulled a 9' YSD out of the scrap box to finish off the car. Painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow and Black Paints, then lettered with Greg Komar Decals. Different from the other car I did, I left it in the 1964 as delivered state with full height ladders and a roof walk. Cars were used in transporting tires to assembly plants and lumber to various locations. Work in progress is the Canadian Grain Hopper where I am installng the roofwalk supports (a real PITA). Also working on a Branchline Berwik Boxcar Kit, still have to install the Hennessy Door Opener and a plate to place the placard. Thanks for looking! ! Rick Jesionowski

Finally finished my GO Transit GP40. This was a factory Atlas unit that I got back in 2005, which started the process of building the HEP power cars. It was released with generic as-built details, circa 1968, and I had to do something to Canada-ize the thing. Details include CN-style pilot, horn and bell, plus moving marker lights to the number boards and the headlight to the nose. I added the access doors to the roof of the long hood, too. Matching the paint was a challenge, done with a custom mix off the Pactra rally green I used on the power car. I can now run an accurate GO Transit commuter train, or at least as much as Athearn used generic details on the cars. The weathering is based on proto photos--the wash racks kept sides clean but were iffy on the roof. This is one of my oldest, moldiest projects and I'm glad to have it off the bench.

Latest project. The valve has been straightened out. Awful low fog bank....can’t see the rest of the car! Another week of great photographs of excellent models. Just for my birthday! Thanks!

A friend is working on a module depicting Dallas Union Terminal in the sixties. I've been able to help with some of the track planning and benchwork design, but it was the two interlocking towers that I was most excited to work on. Tower 106 protects the northern end of the terminal and Tower 107 protects the southern end. I took many photos and measurements of the prototype structures, which have long been out of service but are well preserved. Tower 106 overlooks the infamous grassy knoll down on Elm Street. I designed both Tower 106 and 107 to be 3D printed in white nylon for the main structural elements with the detail parts like windows and doors printed in detailed acrylic. The two materials used have a distinct texture contrast, which helps capture the look of the wood framed windows and steel doors against the rough stucco finish of the building walls. Here is Tower 106 with a small brick auxiliary building that's situated northeast of the tower approximately as the models are posed here. The only thing remaining to do is install window glazing and the red paper shingles currently enroute.

Jako, those 3 cars together look fantastic. The layout is looking good, too.
