Dear fellow Atlas Rescue Forum users: Is there ANYone out there, in USA or more likely Canada, willing to trade their HO Rapido Canadian Pacific baggage/dormitory 85 ft passenger car (stainless steel Budd-built) from "the Canadian" set for a NEW, never run, HO Rapido CPR FP9 loco, WITH DCC and sound I realize this is like trading a canoe (the baggage/dorm) for a power boat (the FP9 loco), but I am willing to sacrifice the value difference to complete a project for an aging pensioner who who worked on this train. I NEED this CPR-specific baggage car, and am unwilling to wait any further til Rapido issues these individually, which MAY or may not occur before the next Haley's Comet appearance ! Again, this is the Budd stainless baggage/dorm, distinct to the Canadian, with the maroon letter board along the (top) side, with 2 small windows on one side, and 5 small windows on the other. It is the 1955-1968 version. If anyone knows anybody possibly interested in this offer to swap, I can obviously be reached through this Forum. Thank-you very much to all reading this......

Was hoping by now Jason of Rapido would have chimed in with a POSSIBLE release date of these particular cars. I know he and his team monitor MUCH of what is said online(good or bad) about the company. Jason.....are you listening ??

Everyone wants the manor and baggage cars. I have seen them selling on eBay for around $300. FP9s are readily available, so I don't think that is a very enticing trade.
In the meantime, even if the car is announced today it would still be 1-2 years before you see it.
I don't think there are many spare baggages to go around at this point.
You don't seem prepared to wait, so my recommendations are as follows:
1. seek out the old brass Athabasca car sides and obtain a cheap Concor or Rivarossi core kit and built your own, "old school" method. I used to have two of these cars but sold them before the 'Canadian' set came out in 2012. I believe they were accurate.
2. buy an entire 'Canadian' set and get the car (and entire train) that way and sell off your individual cars and engines.

Speaking in generalities, it is doubtful that any of the manufacturers will talk about the possibility of a future product until they are ready to make an official announcement (or start a tease campaign).

We have more projects in tooling than any other North American manufacturer. The Baggage-Dorm and Manor and Chateau sleepers are fairly high up our to-do list, but first we're focusing on stuff that we haven't done before. We have yet another new announcement coming next month. -Jason

It would be really nice to have enough CP passenger cars to run behind my 1939 Royal Hudson. It only makes sense to have them available when the locos come out.

Thanks Jason. I'm sure being on top of things like you are is why Rapido is so darn successful a company. Good news the remaining Canadian cars are quite high on your to-do list. I should have added I am also willing to buy outright, to anyone wishing to sell individually that baggage car. $250.00 AND a donation of 50 dollars to the charity of the sellers' choice is quite fair I think. As for the offer of a DCC/sound loco not being an "enticing" trade, I'd beg to differ, seeing as these retail for around 360 dollars, and the (eventual)release of the baggage/dorm will most likely be around 110 dollars, currently what a new mid-train Rapido dome retails at !!

Great news !! I got my Rapido baggage/dorm !! I found a local seller of the complete set for what they were MSRP when released, took out the baggage/dorm car, and sold the set with a substitute Walthers baggage car "stand in". I made clear that the set was missing the Rapido car I took out, and still sold the set for only 50 bucks less than I got it for !! The buyer was happy, and more importantly, I got the darn car I was after....... for 50 bucks !! I had to outlay over 1000 dollars to do all this, but it paid off. Now.....if anyone has a VIA RAIL blue Rapido stainless steel Budd baggage/dorm !

I like stories with happy endings. Congrats!
One thing about this hobby in the limited-release era is that patience usually pays off if you can't buy something the first time around.

That is great news Jason, even if they are a while in the pipeline. I will definitely get a few sleepers and baggage dorms in CP Rail and VIA. I was livid at myself when I missed the diners and sleepers in the VIA several years ago. I LOVE the new domes by the way - great work!
