Good start of the day, Matt. C&O used to run that power thru here in Michigan all the time.

Finished a pair of LS&I RSD15s for a customer. Just a repaint, no detail work. Got 3 of the 5 new freight car storage cabinets downstairs. Cracks out to be about 2000 cars worth of storage across them, which is WAY more then enough. The bottom will get lined with 1/8" foam, with plastic on top.

Love that frame car, Matt! 12bridge, someday I hope to be that organized.. Here is my 80% car for the week. Since the photo I have weathered the trucks and wheels. Still need to add some dusting to the ends and underside before I call it.

Great scene Matt! One question: who makes the autoframes? Cornelius.

Those cabinets look similar to the ones we stored maps in at the geologic survey. How much did they set you back? I imagine they must have been heavy! The collection pictured looks nearly identical to mine save the Golden West car. Hopefully these freight cars will not spend too much time in storage but get on the rails and be run. Easier said than done.

I finally had some time to shoot a few outdoor pics this week, having good weather coincide with my days off helps too. I managed to clean up and weather this Genesis EMD GP40-2, it had the requisite blobs of glue and one of the truck wires needed a resolder. 3123 was built in 1974 as part of a 13 unit order (#3116-3128)and one of 103 3000hp GP40/-2 units on the D&RGW, while generally though of as flatland locomotives the railroad obviously found these engines to work favorable as mainline freight power. They would also be seen in helper service across the system, I have fond recollections of seeing them working on both sides of Soldier Summit and on the Moffat. Here in the early morning sun, 3123 and trailing units 3096 and 3082 lead a westbound manifest.

Good evening from cloudy, mild and rainy Northeast Ohio! Managed to finish up a couple of cars this week. First is another DTI XI boxcar for the fleet of Campbell's Soup cars. The DT&I serviced the huge Campbell's Soup Plant in Napoleon, OH on the Tecumseh MI, branch. The branch was the main line until the Ford build Malinta cutoff was built back in the 1920's. These cars were rebuilt from ACF and Greenville 40' boxcars with the addition of plug doors and insulation to keep the canned goods from freezing. Car was an old Front Range kit that I used the plug door, then painted with Scalecoat II Armour Yellow, Boxcar Red and Aluminum paints then decaled with K4 decals. The Rock Island in 1966 ordered 300 50' PS1 Combination Door Boxcars, with each group of 100 with different equipment, the first were plain jane cars, the second group had lading anchors etc. with the DF2 classification and the 3rd group which I modeled also had PS's end of car cushioning along with the DF2 lading anchors etc. I used a 50' IMRC PS1 kit which had both kinds of doors in it, added a Moloco End of Car Cushioning Coupler Pocket, A-Line Sill Steps. Painted wiht Scalecoat II Oxide Red and Black Paints and lettered with Mask Island decals. Rick Jesionowski

They are 1100$ cabinets new.

Beautiful work!

Well, Sunday is over but I am slowly recovering from a full weekend of work and can think about things like trains again. 12bridge, not trying to piggyback completely, but its funny that the last thing I got done was installing my storage cabinets. Friends gutted their kitchen and I snagged all the cabinets I could use. Base cabinets became workbenches with 3/4" plywood slapped on top. Wall cabinets went under the staging end of the layout to hold the goodies. The cabinets only had 2 shelves each, but it seems to work out for the size of my fleet. I used spray glue to mount leftover carpet tile foam padding on the shelves. The corner cabinet swallowed up almost all of the empty boxes, making tons of room under the layout. Everything is stored dust-free and sitting on the wheels. And despite my fears, the cabinets can actually hold passenger cars and still close the doors. For a total investment of $0.00, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Ryan those both look fantastic, well done. Any thoughts on releasing an as delivered version of 3d print? It doesn't look like it changed to drastically when it changed hands. Uncover the windows and add some roofwalk supports. I'd definitely be interested in a legit CGW caboose.

At the time I created the drawings I didn't have good photos of the windows but I think I could do a decent job now. I wouldn't mind a few more angles, though, especially for the similar riveted CNW cabooses and the as-built Thrall cabooses. I just hate the thought of getting something wrong and putting it out there.

Great picture everyone. Matt I really like your postings. Those C&O locomotive really bring back memories. I grew up in Ashland, KY, and saw a lot of C&O, B&O and Chessie units, plus a few WM. Who painted those for you? Or did you do them yourself? I'm looking for someone to paint a few engines for me in Chessie.

Who painted those for you? Or did you do them yourself? I'm looking for someone to paint a few engines for me in Chessie. These particular units are all factory painted, the middle unit started as a B&O and was simply relettered C&O. My one custom painter is now retired and is not taking on any new work. But the guy who weathered these units and relettered them might take on work but you'd have to ask him. If your on Facebook message Tom Adair. Matt
