Good Evening to all the Forum Folks. Not much sun here today, as it was predominantly cloudy most of the day. Temps were moderate after another chilly morning start. LD took me out for breakfast and then it was off to finish up the Christmas shopping. I think we're done! After we made it home, I ventured over to the feed mill yard to get some pics of the now, out of service switch engine. It's been replaced by a "Shuttlewagon". I have some pics of it, but not yet downloaded. They've even covered the stacks and have it at the end of a short siding, awaiting whatever needs to be done for CSX to return it to the leasing company. Now there are no switch engines near here for me to photograph. The Bunge soybean transfer mill has some sort of switcher, but it's not visible from the highway and I've yet to make contact with anyone there for permission to go on the property and photograph it. Hoping that everyone has a good week. James, You'll find your Sandy pics in the Rail photos R for you topic.

We got the last of the three large rain storms here in Northern California on Sunday morning and we needed rain. Several areas have local flooding but the 1995 was on a train westbound so I made it up the Hill after Church to catch a picture of the train in the rain. And it rained most of the time, but I enjoyed it all. The crew ran out of time on the 12 hour law at Weimar Crossing yesterday since the flood watch had them running slow at 13 mph on 'Donner yesterday. The patch crew did not get the train running again until well after dark. Larry The 1995 at Gold Run in the light rain yesterday.

Nice shot of the 1995, Larry.
It's rather interesting that many of the RR's "Heritage" units look pretty nice.

Morning kind Sirs, Four days to go and we're off to the Shetland Isles for Christmas to share with five granddaughters. The local shipping museum has a simulated tug boat and manoeuvring sequence to sail upstream or down ? and assist a passenger liner to berth at one of the quays. No2 G D enjoys our naughty attempts to sink passing boats and knock red and green bouys then aid the liner at full speed to 'dock' You do get a certificate and Grace did get a first class ticket when we followed the rules but I get one asking me if I am safe to be let loose or words to that affect. I will take the drovers coach kit to try and complete, my son in law does have a workshop so there will be tools available to work with. Once the drovers coach is running I shall attempt to build up a rake of stock cars-need to buy the record of Roy Rogers playing and singing "Happy Trails" for theme music for when I run this train and maybe for trains climbing the bank upto the high level terminus " I think I can I think I can I knew I could" Signing off now until mid January. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to one and all. James Brodie 67281.

Good Evening to all the Forum Folks. Been a fun day of travel and shopping with LD. Headed out at 0800 and stopped in Clinton, for breakfast. Then we went to the hobby shop in Raleigh, that my Town Administrator told me about. While decently stocked with N, O-27 and LGB, the HO rolling stock and loco stock was somewhat lacking. Saw a few things, but LD & I both agreed that everything was full MSRP, except for a fair sale on LGB (25% off) and the LGB track (10% off). The small mall that it was located in also had a Burlington Coat factory outlet store and we found some pillows that we had been looking for. Since we were only about 40 miles or so west of Wilson, where I buy almost all my model train stuff, we drove there. Of course I didn't leave there empty handed and managed to pick up some freight cars and semi-trucks and a couple more packages of detail parts. Naturally, I won't see them again until Christmas. We stopped at another store, in another town on the way back and picked up more odds & ends we needed. Lastly, we had "lupper" (lunch & supper) at the restaurant here in town before getting to the house at 1600. Jim, have a safe and enjoyable trip. Hope that everyone had a good day.

Is the hobby shop the one in the shopping mall? I can second the observation HO is pretty thin there.

I got called for a yard job today and ended up seeing one of the new BNSF heritage hoppers. In fact, I ended up switching it out and getting a good look at it. BNSF 485059 is painted a light gray and it has the BN logo on the right hand side in what appeared to be a reflective green. Sorry, no photos - I don't carry a phone or camera - but I'm sure it won't be long before someone catches it. It should be on a Tulsa train tomorrow on its way to Havelock.

Terry, I don't want to name any names, but it's located in The Shops at South Hills. Apparently they have a store in Cary, also. Nice store, nice staff, but not much inventory in HO. As I said, they do have a nice selection of the other scales and the LGB was enticing, but not for me anytime soon. For us, it was worth the drive over to Wilson, again. I sure hope your drive to an LHS doesn't take you to Raleigh. I'd almost think the the store at Spencer Shops would be closer, but I could be wrong. I've not been there, but I do need to make the trek one day, just to see the "museum", if nothing else. rch, thanks for the info. Unfortunately, that's nowhere near southeastern, NC, but maybe someone can get a shot of it and post it for us. ;D

Mike, the Choo Choo Shop is 37 miles from me, or an hours' travel. The Rail Yard in Roanoke is over 3 hours away, even though it's only 120 miles.
