The B-100-40 really looks good. I appreciate them redoing the roof to get it right (although I still haven't looked closely enough to see what they thought was off about the first version). The ore hoppers look amazing! I really would like to talk myself into a couple just to have such a great model of an interesting car, but I must resist...

That ore hopper something only used in Canada? It's not something I really knew existed.

Those ore hoppers are pretty cool but yeah, seem to be a Canadian thing. I've read there are some who are going to buy a bunch.

Forget Canada, they were exclusive to a single service in Ontario - going from north of Sudbury down to Hamilton.
Rapido MasterClass Ore Hopper
Rapido is obviously counting on those who want to model the service buying a lot of cars...

I felt similarly about the Flexi flo's which were likely rare if seen at all on the DRGW. But a few found their way to me. I failed to resist.

Rapido's FB post about the ore cars includes a photo in the comments of two Granite State Concrete (GSAX) lettered cars - it appears to be an operation in NH. I think you should be able to see it without an account: www.facebook.com/rapidotrains/photos/a.713228385429695/3817941648291671This is not totally helpful, since it would require a kitbash (or Rapido tooling a different underbody, which they may have plans for), but some of those ore cars were rebuilt into ballast hoppers: CRDX 900351Looks like 2006+, so way too new for many of us here. I think it's pretty interesting how quickly rapido can go from 3-D drawings, to pre order, to having samples ready. The barrel ore hoppers are neat cars, I have seen them in northern Wisconsin in Escanaba, down to points in Chicago as well.

Dave The New Hampshire operation is the Milford-Bennington. They operate a small shuttle service with several of these cars from a quarry to their unloading site. When the weather warms up they make two or three round trips a day, using a SW900, and a caboose that’s been modified to act like a cab car.

Ed, if you go to MCFL io groups and search for Rapido Ore cars there is a lot of discussion and info on these cars in use in Washington, also a lot of photos of cars in use in the US with subsequent reporting mark changes.

Thanks! Very interesting. I wonder if Rapido would do some of these: www.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?id=202157for the US market. Might sell a few down south. Ed
