Both are great choices for contemporary modelers. I was wondering if someone was going to do the NSC Railgon eventually. It really looks unique compared to the other Railgon prototypes.

What's the marketing plan for Aurora? Direct sales only? Distributors etc. to hobby shops and mail order dealers? WalMart?

What's the marketing plan for Aurora? Direct sales only? Distributors etc. to hobby shops and mail order dealers? WalMart? FWIW, I purchased Aurora 45' containers at a local Toronto, ON shop back in February. My SD60F pre-order is with a different shop in Southern Ontario. Per Aurora's website they are distributing directly to dealers in Canada and the U.S., dealer listings here: na.auroraminiatures.com/dealer-information/Doug Stark

Lombard Hobbies will be carrying them, I pre-ordered my SD60F there.
The 45' containers are extremely well done. The printing is phenomenal.

Thanks. Aurora website said they have USA dealers but did not actually list any. Says they are looking for US distributor.

Thanks. Aurora website said they have USA dealers but did not actually list any. Says they are looking for US distributor. Huh? There are 8 U.S. dealers listed, top menu under Dealers > Dealer Listing - USA: na.auroraminiatures.com/dealer-listing-usa/

Toy Train Heaven had some Aurora engines in their year-end clearance sale.

I have to say very nice cars. Modern modelers are really seeing a boon with Aurora. I loathe much of the modern gondola designs (as with coil cars) but for a model, it's exquisite.

I'm super stoked about Aurora's new announcements, including the upcoming 7550s. Beautiful cars!
I've pre-ordered quite a few, Saving my pennies as we speak

The new Gondola designs I'm ok with. The new coil steel car designs are aesthetically terrible to me. I did preorder 2 of the upcoming Genesis Versi-coil cars to see if I could stomach them. I do enjoy really well done models, so we'll see

These look very nice. Good to see they got the hand brake chain in the release position. Several manufacturers don’t get that right.

I just watched SideTrackX's review on YouTube. He gave the car a A- score overall. The 2 biggest dings on the car were light weight and plastic couplers that he termed unreliable. The details on the car were excellent and he stated he would be buying more.

The details on the car were excellent and he stated he would be buying more. The couplers and the coupler pockets are a big downfall in the cars being offered by Aurora. The FBox's in the first run had the same issue. So it's no surprise that these would have it too. Also disappointed that the gondolas don't have any sort of interior considering the price that they are being sold at. While different prototypes, I'm looking forward to the upcoming Prairie Shadows FBox offering.

I have no problem with Aurura's draft gear, other than Tangent they are the only ones making truly prototypical looking draft gear. And the couplers? Whatever. I switched my boxcars and the OVR pipe cars to Kadees with basically no effort beyond screwing and unscrewing the coupler box.
I end up switching the couplers on every model I get that's not Tangent anyway, at this point I can't be bothered to worry about what coupler a model has on it from the factory.

There IS no interior to speak of, just flat sheets of steel. It's not like the real cars have any kind of bracing or anything else on the inside.

Better hop on Youtube and call him out on that too. As for the couplers on the FBox's, the examples I bought were too low and too much up and down play in the pocket. I had to add shims to them to get them to proper spec.

I am also a proponent of shims inside the draft gear itself. I find that a lot of cars with 'low couplers' actually have the box at the correct height, but the coupler sags in the box making it appear too low. Sometimes I add a paper shim below the coupler to raise the head without raising or modifying the car itself. This is easier to do with whisker couplers than it is with the spring plate couplers.

That what the coupler in the above photo shows. Sagging in the draft gear box.
Great looking wagon though. Detail is on par with anything European I have or have seen.

I'm pretty sure the Aurora that made the slot cars -- and, I think -- some fairly nice HO polystyrene kits for structures, one of which one of my brothers cut down to resemble a stone Red Arrow. Lines (Phila. Suburban Trans. Co.) trolley station -- was a different company from the new Aurora based in Ontario that has announced several forthcoming items.

For sure. Aurora also made various plastic model kits. This should bring back old memories: But then there was also the more mundane "Weapons of War": Ed
