After taking a closer look at the GN boxcar, I think I’m gonna get 6 or so. The only issue is I want to mix-and-match the schemes (except maybe the brown scheme, I don’t recall any photos of those remaining into ‘78). Wonder if any shops would let me do that?
Now I gotta renumber my Intermountain ones. (Wonder which decal sets work)

The LV caboose is very tempting. I’m not super keen on the grabs on the end ladder, but those probably won’t be too bad to replace with metal grabs.

The only issue with singles is no real guarantee what numbers you get, you could get duplicates.

Are the sides of the Q E plated?

Rapido should buy the pd tank hopper from Intermountain ss its such an authentic Canadian protype and bring it back out, seems like it's been five plus years since it's original release. Rapido has been good about re releases. Not so good on their ladders and grab irons.

Are the sides of the Q E plated? If you're asking based on the photo above, I'm going with "no". It looks like there MIGHT be Rapido's spray-painted version, though. The ARTWORK shows stainless sides. In a reflection on Rapido's ability to do research, I'll note that one of the E's Rapido is doing never got stainless sides (9942A). If they "forgot" to do the special Rapido stainless paint, THAT one would be correct. It also appears Burlington's E's all sported "same-sized" portholes. Ed

Rapido has been good about re releases. They have? I can't think of anything they make, other than the 3800 cu.ft. hoppers (3 times) and the 52' gondola (3 or 4 times) that has been released more than twice. Usually when they make something, if it gets a re run at all, it will be a quick one within a couple years after it was originally made, and then never again. In fact that is one of my biggest gripes with Rapido, the lack of re-runs. They are so hyper focused on bringing out more and more new stuff that the idea of bringing back any past models falls by the wayside, and on the occasions when it does happen, things have been known to have issues earlier runs didn't. Case in point: the 3800 cu.ft. hopper. When it first came out, the walkways drooped do to the end frames being too short. When the second run came out they completely re-tooled the car to fix both that and some fit issues the original had, and they came out very well. Flash forward to this week, and I receive my handful of third run cars - and they are significantly under weighted, something that was never an issue in the past. Seriously, Rapido can't even get out of their own way enough to re-release old models without somehow managing to mess up a good thing.

Cabooses were run twice along with most passenger cars from the Canadian, the SGUs and the F units.

Cabooses were run twice along with most passenger cars from the Canadian, the SGUs and the F units. were the CP F units ever made available other than as part of the Canadian set? As far as CN/VIA F units go, I know they have made several versions of them but again, have any of those actually been made more than once? In the same vein I don't consider the GMD-1 to have ever been re ran, because each time they made it, they made a different version. First as-built, then the overhauled 1100s, then the PSC rebuilt 1400s and 1600s. Given the demand I see for those online, any one of those is long over due for a re-release.

^ Yep, the CPs were re-run (run for the first time on their own since the set) about 5 years ago and the CNs around the same time + new versions. The clue when viewing listings in later years is when you see more than one version of box art available.
New Look buses plus original and Canada scheme VIA F40PH-2Ds have also had two major releases as well with no significant new technical issues the second time around. I believe the blue VIA coaches were also re-run and these saw improvements from the original run.

IIRC they have done multiple runs of the FP9, F40PH, GMD1, RDC, and RS11. They have announced second runs of the Cabbages, SW1200, and M420s.

IIRC they have done multiple runs of the...RS11. From Rapido's website, they've only done one run of RS-11's. The potential second one has not been produced, yet. And certainly not multiples (depending on how you define the term). Ed

again, read my post. I specifically said "more than twice" because Rapido re-runs tend to take place so close to the original it is almost like 'run 1.5'. It's not like Rapido is re-releasing things every handful of years. You get one or two quick runs of something and then that is it. If you want a certain item they have not made in a long time and they are sold out everywhere, tough. Hope you can find one on Ebay or FB Marketplace or wherever you tend to look for such things, and be prepared to act fast and pay dearly. The odds of it coming out again are not great.
The recent re-release of the Cabbage or certain CP Budd Passenger cars after long hiatuses is a notable exception. There may be a couple others but the exception does not prove the rule.
Some things, like the SW1200RS, have never been re-released even though they barely scratched the surface of the possibilities for them.

I was employed elsewhere.
As I said: "depending on how you define the term"
If I have two children, do I have multiple children?
If I chow down two burgers, have I eaten multiple burgers?
Maybe. Maybe not. That's why I added the disclaimer. Is "several" two or more?
In the case of the RS-11, it really doesn't matter, as the RS-11 has only been done once. Presumably, in a few months, it will have been done twice. But that hasn't happened.

As an adjective, multiple is defined by Merriam-Webster as: consisting of, including, or involving more than one.
As a noun, they say something in units of more than one or two.
In the context of how many runs Rapido has done of a certain product, I believe multiple is the correct word to say more than one run has been made.

I really wish Rapido would re-run their Super Continental passenger cars.
I was on a lengthy model railroading hiatus back when they were originally released and missed them. Picked up some from old stock in hobby stores but there are some significant gaps I'd like to fill.
Vaguely recall some discussion about issues with those old cars but can't recall much. Maybe mediocre rolling qualities or something? They might have to re-tool the cars but hey, if they can do Turbo 2.0 you'd think they might revisit these old products too.

Are the sides of the Q E plated? does not look like it...but they announced units with plating and without... There is a definite contrast between the sides and the rest of the body, it just hard to tell in that grainy picture on my phone if it's bright silver paint or plating. A model representing one of the units without stainless steel sides should have the whole body should as one color.

Ed This reminds me of when the original Proto 2000 E8's came out. The entire first release was available except the Burlington units. They were delayed because they were trying to figure out a way to plate the sides. That would have been a first on a "high end" plastic model as far as I know. In the end, they couldn't figure it out, so finally released them in road numbers that never got stainless steel side panels. At least that's the story my dealer told me back then. Maybe I missed it, but why isn't Rapido plating these models that should be plated? They've been plating their Budd cars for what, a decade now? If the Budd bilevels come out in silver paint....

Well, they'll match the Budd RDC's and the long produced New Haven cars, which aren't plated. Jason recently explained that they can't do plating because the Chinese authorities are very concerned with environmental damage--something I think we're all familiar with. Apparently Walthers gets their plating done elsewhere, in a country that is not that concerned about such problems. Elbonia, perhaps. Ed

Ed--
Ha, rotfl.
Rapido's idea of a "stainless steel" finish is only done with paint and it sucks, period, especially when compared to surviving prototype stainless steel equipment.
E units: I have a Walthers Proto CB&Q E-9, and its plated finish is a whole lot more convincing than the photo of Rapido's CB&Q E units above.
