On our 25th wedding anniversary, in 2009, my wife and I took the Southwest Chief to Flagstaff, Arizona and rented a car to see the area for 10 days. We followed the BNSF Transcon on Route 66 to Kingman. We came back on Rt 40 and spent the night in Seligman. Next day we went east to Williams and headed north on Rt 64 to the Grand Canyon for a few days. Along the way we stopped at a place that the gentleman had an outdoor railroad that you could ride (1 person on a car). I know this place was advertised somewhere because I would have never known to look for and find the place. He was not open but gave my wife and I a tour of it. He had an operating signal system also. It was a really cool outdoor layout. I have tried to find that place again, but I am having no luck. I was just wondering if maybe someone else has been there or might know what I am talking about. I did a zoomed right in earth view on Google and could not find it. Maybe it is gone by now, I do not know, just looking to see if anyone is familiar with this RR someone had set up outside in the desert. It was really cool!
Thanks,
Bruce

Unrelated, but I buy vintage slides when I run across them and I found some depicting an outdoor Lionel layout on red border Kodachromes, so maybe 1957-ish, that based on other slides appear to be at a zoo in Michigan somewhere.

There is a ride on size train at the Detroit Zoo…last time I was there….might have been 1957… or possibly 1980s with my kids…lived MI my whole life, but haven’t been to many zoos…no train at zoo in Lansing, my closest.
