CPT&C coil steel gondola built from an Accurail undecorated 3700 series AAR 41' steel gondola kit. The cars rides on Tahoe Model Works 70 ton solid bearing trucks. Kadee brake wheel and scale head whisker couplers. Walther's coil steel loads. While assembling the loads I added steel BB's to help add some addition weight to the car. The loads were first painted gray. I used Ammo of Mig Jemenez gun metal pigment and scrubbed it in with a Q-Tip. From there I polished it with a paper towel. Coil straps were painted with a Sharpie. I have four of the straight CPT&C cars and two of the PC patched cars. I designed the cradles and then had then 3D printed. I designed in where the wood would set. I stained the wood with staining pens I bought from Home Depot. I chose three colors to give some variation and character to the wood slats. The cradles were cleaned up and primed with Mr Surfacer 1000 gray. Once the primer cures I used Tamiya X-2 gloss black to paint them. The wood slats were glued in with Elmer's Glue-All. A coat of clear gloss was shot over them and then a satin varnish to finish them off.

Really nice job! I like the PC patch job, and the coils look very realistic! I think the polishing helped.

Killer work. At this rate you're gonna have to publish a color guide to CPTC equipment!

Well done. Especially the coils. I see fresh cold rolled steel every day and you really nailed the color.
